Here's an thought that might be intersting to consider dealing with the procedure that has or doesn't have to be followed.

It's my thinking that universities have different procedures to follow but am deviate from them under certain circumstances I.e the hiring of DD.

This gruden situation is very unique we looking at who is brokering te deal. If Haslam is involved like we all assume he may very well be requiring procedure to be followed to protect himself from any perception he allowed anything to happen that wasn't completely above board.

Just a thought

:dunno:

I've had a lot of laughs today off this thread, especially seeing how the whole Dilfer replacing Gruden tonight thing took off. Man isn't the Vol Nation a little edgy and grasping for straws.

The Vol nation needs to relax this will happen. I think everyone got so caught up in things today you all missed something very important.

Today it was reported that Governor Haslam said he doesn't have a recommendation on Dooley's replacement and said how much the new coach gets paid shouldn't be up to the governor. So why is this important. Two reasons. First his family is being tied to this hire and secondly and more importantly he knows this is done and people are going to go crazy on the salary (remember not everyone in the state is a UT fan or even a football fan). He as a politician is having to distance himself from the money aspect of this hire, meaning an announcement is forthcoming.

That is a very interesting way to break that down

Guys who do not believe Gruden is coming...I respect your opinion if you don't pi$$ in the punchbowl, but most of you can't resist polluting the punch

No coaching job posted...they do need this though.

There is conflicting information concerning the posting period and Dooley, and how it pertains to Gruden.

Even though somebody said that it didn't pertain to the coaching positions, somebody I spoke with that worked in HR at another state school said that they actually did have to post the position previously, but they didn't know if that had changed since they left.

My understanding of how the Dooley deal went down is that the position was posted AFTER he signed an MOU, but BEFORE he signed his final contract, which was 3 months later.

I know for a fact that this is how many coaches are hired, but I do not know if things are different at UT now.

Like Slice, I was unable to find anything definitive about coaching jobs, but I did find this article which will be VERY interesting to everybody. I highly recommend you read it:
