So crazy to me! I'm a lurker and only post on occation but to see the fighting and arguing going on this board just a few weeks ago and for the most part for the last 3 yrs and to see how everyones bonded together in this thread over the possiblity of CJG being our next coach. It's great to see and if Hart values his job, IMO he needs to make this happen. It would unify our fan base and rejuvenate our football program. Here's to hoping we can all celebrate and stand behind our love for the Vols with CJG leading the way!

Just using this article and some of its points as an example to the previous comments about homeruns, grand slams etc.

What is needed is someone who can come out of the dugout swinging for the fence. Recruiting wise a grand slam hire would bolster the writers points about talent and depth...regardless of who it may be...we need talent that can overcome bad situations, make that ONE PLAY when we need it most, etc. etc. regardless of coaching ineptitude.

Sounds to me like Gruden would most definitley help. However, if they don't get it right between the University and Athletic Department we are going to be in for another decade of dissapointment. I can't understate the importance of a degree today in our culture if you are middle class or lower class. I am for Academics. Yet, I am an advocate for Athletics as well. And it is starting to cost money with UT being unsuccessful. There has to be a healthy balance between both. To me there has to be higher demand for academics than sports. People are going to grind to pay that tuition, but if we are not winning no one will come to games. If this is the case you should put more money towards Athletics. It sounds like when Doug Dickey and Johnson left we started going downhill. This is a big issue that has to be resolved.

What is cheek doing? Isn't cheek a FlA guy? Can his azz, wait.... Didn't I read cheek was gonna be let go sometime soon? I thought he was gone anyway or am I totally misstaken?

Dont think Cheek is the issue. Was talked about yesterday that is done defending Dooley and he is done. Just from reading between the lines Gruden cant sign or accept anything while MNF is still going on. So it could be that Dooley is officially gone after UK and Gruden announced after the last MNF game. Even better he can announce it that last game. Again I have no knowledge of any kind, just have heard there's an individual or 2 that wants to keep it quiet until seasons end.

OK; I'm back. Went over to the football forum for a bit. That place is insane. There are still people defending Dooley and screaming for him to have another year. I can't even imagine.

Freak may have to split VolNation into the John Gruden VolNation and the "those-with-an-IQ-below 47 VolNation." SMDH.

Dickey and Johnson were former football players, and Dickey was a coach, not just administrators. They get it.
