Let's temper our comments towards Dooley

Pretty much spot on KK... I would place myself in the "nega" camp right now (as I have been ever since the Florida loss) but I don't think it's as ironclad a lock as others do that he's going to get the gate. If CDD wins out, goes to a bowl and wins Hart (who by some accounts doesn't really have the stomach for a coaching search right now...) would have a hard time canning Dooley after posting an 8 win season... Next year, should Dooley get that opportunity, it's going to be a whole new level of expectation. Fans are going to want wins that actually matter and a legitimate toehold in the top 25 (and probably a legit shot at an appearance in Atlanta) before they'll be willing to admit Dooley belongs on the Hill... I hope he pulls all of this off, but from what I've seen so far, he hasn't really given me much to hang my hat on...

I really think he is going to win the sec next year!!! Ive been around football all my life and see the short commings as a lack of dept in the def. backs, if we had some experince there we would be winning the east and possibly undefeated!!! this offense rocks, they have only had one real bad show on offense and bammmmma scared bray to death, next year we will be so hungry, they will beat the east to death!!! Just my opinion and I know how they are we all have them!!

If i made the money at work that Dooley does and was guaranteed $5 mill if my performance was horrid, every person on this board could take a dump in my office daily, ridicule me all day every day and put flaming bags of crap on my porch at the top of every hour.

With that being said, I am not the type to yell at anybody still wearing Orange. Except on the TV. I have some pretty animated words while watching the games but they are usually directed at Sal.

Ummmmm..... No. We're nowhere close right now... If DD gets one more year, does something WITH IT, and Sunseri finally gets the D to understand his scheme we may be onto something, but as it stands today, we are worse than Vandy. Vandy has a league win... We don't.
I can't remember. Did Vandy beat So. Carolina, Miss. St., Florida, Alabama, or Georgia? Those are the ones who beat us.

Nope. The Commodes narrowly beat Missouri without their starting quarterback for most of the game, as well as an Auburn team that is off to its worst start in 60 years, literally.

Seriously, the guy is gonna get set up for life. I'm sure he and his family will be fine.

Every fanbase has stupid rednecks. That's part of taking a such a job. I could care less if the guy gets a few verbal jabs every now again. That's what happens when you lose with such consistency.

The cards certainly haven't fallen UT's nor Dool's way. Losing the teams best player 3 years in a row right before the start of the season. We've had about as tough of a schedule as UT has ever had during Dooley's time here. Having to replace so many assistants for this season was another blow few great coaches wouldn't have a sizable problem with. The hiring of Sal seems to be the biggest mistake since he's not ready to be a DC in the SEC or our talent really is sub par. Losing against top 15 teams isn't unexpected for the situation right now. With all that said, the Kentucky loss and missing the chance at Mississippi State are the hardest to over look. I wanted Dooley to be the man and I certainly hope he finishes the season with all wins regardless if gets to stay or not. Go Big Orange and good luck Dool's no matter what the future holds for you.

If I am figuring this right, Louisiana Tech's seniors and redshirt juniors are Dooley's last full recruiting class there, and the juniors and redshirt sophomores are the class he had been recruiting when he was hired here. They have only lost one game this year, by 2 points to Texas A&M. And I know, somebody will say this isn't La. Tech, but the core of the team consists of his recruits, and they are pretty good. He left before they became upper classmen.

Think the positions would be reversed if we swapped our losses vs Bama and M-State with their wins over Auburn and Missouri?

As most anyone who has seen my posts over the past year knows (since the loss to KY), I've been one who has wanted to cut the cord, and get the HC'ing hire right....sooner, rather than later. I knew Hamilton had gotten us into a mess, hiring a prospect who had no measure of success to commend him to a job of this magnitude. Nevertheless, all the way up to the Bama game, I truly hoped Dooley could break through and prove us all wrong. Before the season started, I actually thought he had the talent to mask his shortcomings as a HC.

Had he been able to hold onto Wilcox, Peter Sirmon and Thompson, I still think he would have pulled it off. Losing to KY was the tipping point. Any how, I say all of that to make this point. Dooley tried, and it's time to move on....most of us agree on that. But please folks, during this time, let's not show our arses by making cruel, disparaging remarks and heckling the guy and his family at games. Let's show a little grace and act with a little dignity in this process.

Even though he is going to be financially rewarded for failing, it still has to be a gut wrenching experience for him and his family. We wouldn't want folks doing this to us, when we happen to fall short of a goal or expectation in our own lives. Let's temper our actions and comments from here on out...agreed?
You are right. I have heckled as much as anyone. I really hope we win out. I know he is coming back next year if we do. But I am so use to sucking now. What's another year down the toilet!

The seniors on this team who stuck with it have been through a lot. Let's all come together and support them the rest of the season. Whatever happens with the coach will happen whether we support the team or not. Let's fill the stadium Saturday with orange. Go Vols!

He makes a lot of money. His buyout is huge. He should be able to take the verbal abuse. Blah blah blah. Does that make it right to call him names and ridicule him in front of his family? Hell no. His record speaks for itself. He knows he's in trouble as far as staying at UT. All we can do is ask a guy to do his best. I think he's done that and we've found out so far his best is not enough in this league. No need to belittle the guy and call him names. For Dooley or not some people need to grow up.

I know this won't be a popular comment, but Dooley hasn't had things go his way at all since he's been here. Last year, his O-Line was young and his D-line was small and very below average talent wise. The trenches and J Hunt going down really made him look bad last year. This year, those areas are much improved, but now he has a brand new set of issues on his hands. First off, there's only one decent RB and he's been hurt. The secondary is below average talent wise and they haven't developed chemistry despite many efforts to make changes and find something that works. Lastly, his QB has been throwing picks most of the year and has played very poorly in the 4th quarter. The fact that we have had no running game has made us very predictable. Kind of hard to protect the football when you're throwing tons of passes into pass protection coverages. Like many of you, I was really down on Dooley last year when he lost to Kentucky. But he set a goal to get better in the trenches this year and I think he did a pretty good job getting Sentimore and McCullers. The O-line is way better this year than last so he should get some credit for fixing the areas that were the biggest need last year! I think if he had another year, he would address the secondary and RB issues and we would be a much better team next year. There is improvement, it's just not the kind of improvement people were expecting.

I find it funny that he has made a career blaming the fans and players, being an ass to the media, and an overall pompous ass to anyone who would listen....and I'm supposed to feel sorry for him.

I've had to watch 3 years of the worst football I've ever seen, he can stand to take a name or two.

Just curious, when has Dooley ever lashed out at the fans? If he has I haven't heard him do it. I know he has been less than cordial at times with the media because they keep asking him dumb questions about his future, how many games he has to win to save his job, and whether or not he thinks the university will fire him. I would be less than cordial too if you kept asking me if and when you thought I might get fired from my job. The man is not Jesus yall. Give the guy a break. I think he has been very patient with the media and the fans considering the hell they are putting him, his family and his team through.

If you can't agree with that, then at least try and get this. Derrick Dooley has given the University of Tennessee his blood, sweat and tears. That man has worked harder and taken on more stress in 3 years then most people endure in a lifetime. You can say he might not have the stuff to be a great coach, but he is a great man who has worked hard for the team and the fans and he should be commended for his efforts, despite his amount of victories. And if you can't agree with that, then you're whole identity and purpose in life is based on the success of a football program and not the things that matter most in life. And just in case you haven't figured it out yet, you're not on the team, the team's future doesn't rest on your shoulders, and if the Vols don't win for another decade, the world will still remain in balance. Oh, and one last thing. You do realize that most of the players on this team are from all over the country, not just Tennessee. So when you get all worked up because you're state team didn't win a major game, just remember that the team is not a reflection on you or your beloved state because most of them were born and raised somewhere else. As if that even mattered.

Bottom line; if you are too emotionally involved, "Get a Life!" :zeitung_lesen:

If being a soccer mom means being a decent person who doesn't trash good people because they don't perform to my standards, then I'll gladly carry that title. Good for you taking the high road. You know, what the world really needs is more people just like you. I mean, screw the idealists and people who stand for things like commending people for their efforts and encouraging them to keep trying. No, what the world really needs is to banish all the soccer moms and let the merciless rabid dogs run the world. Eat the flesh and desecrate the bones of the meek and heavy hearted. In a world like that big man, you better be able to take in what you're willing to dish out. There's always a bigger dog than you, and sooner or later he's either going to befriend you or eat you alive. It all depends on whatever seeds you choose to sew. If you live by the sword, you die by the sword.

Run out of Capri Sun? Orange Slices?
Dooley is a millionaire thanks to UT. If he can't take negativity, it is further proof he is not cut out to be in the SEC.

Chill out, killa.

Thanks for the pearls of infinite wisdom! Yes, I see it now. The light is finally starting to dim and I can see things from a whole new perspective. Dooley stole your 5 million dollars, which if I were you, I would be upset too. And clearly there is a written rule somewhere that says if you make a lot of money, you should use some of that cheese to buy bigger shoulders to carry the extra stress from pig vomit fans who have nothing better to do than b_tch about losing football games. The sad thing is, most over indulgent fans believe they are entitled to act like complete a-holes just because someone is making a lot of money. At the end of the day, people are still people. Money doesn't make them any more resilient. Ever think about that?
