Let's temper our comments towards Dooley

Ohhhhh woooo is me....whatever am I going to do about all these hecklers and people unhappy with me being ZERO for a career against ranked teams. Maybe I should grab the wife and kids and roll around in my fat stacks of cash I now have....or maybe we should ignite about $100,000 in a pile in the back yard and roast marshmellows and make smores.

Need to make font bigger and colored so it's easier to see for people with bad vision.

Just a suggestion.

We'll temper our comments once he is no longer our coach. Obviously, no one should insult his family. But while he is sitting there collecting his money and delivering an utterly awful product, it is fair to talk as bad about him as he deserves.

This could have been ended by Hart announcing Dooley's termination yesterday. But Hart didn't do that and he set us up for a very ugly November. Its unfortunate, but steps could have been taken by Hart or Dooley to make it otherwise.

Until he is no longer our coach, it is perfectly fine (and maybe even ought to be encouraged), for us to let him know that we don't want him here any longer.

Gunny, you are asking for the impossible. Some people just don't have the capabilities to think instead of just emote. The same kind of people sent death threats to Jonathan Crompton, terrorized Dooley's kids, bashed players like Arian Foster, Erik Ainge, Zach Rogers, and too many other players to name.

The coaching situation will sort itself out. In the mean time, we have 4 more games to play and a bowl game to set our sights on. We have a recruiting class to sign and players who at least deserve our admiration for playing hard in every game this year. The decision is going to be made one way or another by Hart and all of the screaming, whining and bashing can only hurt the players and recruiting efforts.

But Gunny, some of these "fans" can't help themselves.

Per Merriam-Webster's website....
Definition of FANATIC: marked by excessive enthusiasm and often intense uncritical devotion (they're fanatic about Tennessee Football)

Being unkind, ugly and rude is unkind, ugly and rude no matter the situation. If, as so many on here act, Dooley actually works for the fans, how many of you have been heckled and called out as imcompetent and unworthy of being the water boy by your employer or supervisor? And if so, how long did it take him to get up off the floor after you decked him?

When it comes to players and coaches the fan base being mad and criticizing is all part of the game. They will hear it from the seats on Saturday, to the TV on Sunday sports, to the forums on the net. If it bothers them then they have no place in the spotlight. If your an underachieving college coach making millions of dollars during a recession and it's hard for everyday people to find work. You better be ready for some heavy taunting and criticizing.

How many of you saying to temper our comments get a big laugh when Obama is lampooned, is called a communist by Michael Savage, a retard by Ann Coulter, etc.? Wonder how Michelle, Sasha, and Malia feel about that?

Some people are going to be over the top He accepted a high paying/high profile job. It goes with the territory. Kind of like politics. He needs to remind his family of that and accept the consequences of his lack of success. We are not going to be an elite program with Dooley at the helm. That being said I personally have nothing but respect for him especially after what weezle did to us. Now...let's go get gruden

My friend I am a professional. I was a floor manager at one of the largest Honda dealerships in the U.S. when I lived in L.A. Before I worked my way up to that position and was just a simple salesman I took all sorts of verbal abuse from customers, floor managers, desk managers, finance managers, and the general manager. There were days I felt like I was someone's red headed step child.

But being I was determined to prove every person that criticized or belittled me at my job wrong...that I was better than that...or listened to what they were saying about my job performance and make myself a better professional because of it.....I did just that. ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS! I can handle jokes and criticism...I don't wear a skirt...no one walks on egg shells for me either...I'm a grown @$$ man and if I dish it out I can take it back when it is given to me bro.

If Dooley wants to shut people up....he should go out and win some football games that mean something....instead of being ZERO for a career against ranked teams.

And the Repubs aren't? Both parties are two peas in a pod. Those girls are just as human as Dooley's boy. NO DIFFERENCE.
As for me, I crack on both of them (sans profanity). I'm sure their fat wallets can take the abuse.

He IS a closet Marxist. That's not ridicule. That's the simple facts. His 2008 campaign had posters on their wall of the Andy Warhal version of Che' Guevara. All of his friends are either self avowed socialists, marxists or communists. He's been stewed in that ideology all his life.

Now back to Dooley...him getting a buyout comes with the territory, because the profession is absolutely brutal. Nobody wants Dooley gone more than me...but we should have a little class in the way we voice our disapproval.

Especially at the games. Saying "It goes with the territory" is a cop out. There are plenty of A holes in every fanbase...it goes with the territory....but do you and I have to be among them?

Kids are cruel at school...and that goes with the territory, but let one of them mistreat YOUR kid and you suddenly have a different attitude about the matter.

Not saying criticizing is wrong, but there's a point where folks can go overboard. Heckling the guy in front of his family at the game or in public is just wrong, any day of the week and twice on Sunday

I agree with the OP, had all hopes Dooley could pull out a few victories.
He came into a mess. No debt and forced to at mostly true freshmen in the dog eat dog SEC. No wonder no other coaches wanted the job.
I am proud of the job Dooley has done for our future.
Anyone who saids he ran the program into the ground doesn't know anything about rebuilding from the ground up.
Last year we couldn't even compete with the big boys and this year we had chances to win all games except Bama of course.
Laying a foundation is hard dirty work.
I personally feel he has done that.
You say don't blame injuries but with no debt what you got?
Give the poor guy some credit.
It's not his fault bray turned the ball over 3 times against Georgia, or was stripped against South Carolina was that d young fumbled the ball against miss state.
Crap happens. He has had a very rough year but the players so far have not quit on him.
The same players we all cheer for on Saturdays.
I didn't even mention the great defense we got.
He should use a cruch to trip somebody.
I just feel bad for the guy and wish him the best.
And with that I say...
GO BIG ORANGE!!!!

Some of the fans yelling at Dooley are probably hoping to get puched so they can sue and have an easy payday.
Those are the type people you are trying to reason with, so there is no sense in trying.

There is nothing unkind, rude or ugly about pointing out his record, the quality of his work or the fact that anyone wants him gone. I just don't think acting like a Bama jacka$$ or a Gator is necessary in doing it.

Don't get me wrong... I got a laugh out of the Incompetent definition with Crompton's pic on it...or was it InCrompetent? That is rough on a kid but dang funny.

I would just prefer we not bring his family into it (except maybe his Momma since she seems to like the spotlight) nor call him derogatory names...nothing wrong with keeping it civil.

As most anyone who has seen my posts over the past year knows (since the loss to KY), I've been one who has wanted to cut the cord, and get the HC'ing hire right....sooner, rather than later. I knew Hamilton had gotten us into a mess, hiring a prospect who had no measure of success to commend him to a job of this magnitude. Nevertheless, all the way up to the Bama game, I truly hoped Dooley could break through and prove us all wrong. Before the season started, I actually thought he had the talent to mask his shortcomings as a HC.

Had he been able to hold onto Wilcox, Peter Sirmon and Thompson, I still think he would have pulled it off. Losing to KY was the tipping point. Any how, I say all of that to make this point. Dooley tried, and it's time to move on....most of us agree on that. But please folks, during this time, let's not show our arses by making cruel, disparaging remarks and heckling the guy and his family at games. Let's show a little grace and act with a little dignity in this process.

Even though he is going to be financially rewarded for failing, it still has to be a gut wrenching experience for him and his family. We wouldn't want folks doing this to us, when we happen to fall short of a goal or expectation in our own lives. Let's temper our actions and comments from here on out...agreed?

Can no one let the Kentucky loss go? Geeezuz!!! It's done. It was last year. LET IT GO!!!! Streak was gonna be broken at some point. Nothing lasts forever.

I like Dooley and all but my lord I dont love him. He's a smart enough guy to understand that heckling and negativity comes with losing. I agree we should leave his family alone, but my goodness he's a grown man and if he cant take the heat he needs to get out the kitchen. If his feelings get hurt a little, he'll live.

My feelings get hurt just about every Saturday it seems.

What's the point though? Does anyone think heckling the coach will make the team better? I want UT to win but acting like an ignorant, drunk buffoon screaming insults at the coach isn't likely to produce any positive results. Dooley will be retained or terminated based on his results on the field not by a few classless fans screaming insults. Everyone is responsible for their own behavior and some of us prefer to conduct ourselves with dignity. I don't feel the need to hurt someone's feelings because I'm disappointed with the team. Do I think Dooley has done a poor job coaching the team? Yes I do but I can still treat him well until he's gone.
