I see it the opposite way. If he doesn't have Gruden on the hook, that's all the more reason to make a move on Dooley and get the ball rolling. We are in our current state because we got desperate and settled for scraps last time we hired a coach. The longer we wait, especially with Auburn, Arkansas and maybe others in the market for a coach, the greater the odds we get stuck doing the same this time.
The longer things go today with no news, the more it looks like Hart is just going to sit there with his thumb up his ***, waiting on this loser to try and beat a few cupcakes, and either get stuck with him for another crappy season, or getting leftovers for AT LEAST another 3 years.
A) Just because it has not been made official does not mean a coaching seach has not started
B) No coach currently coaching can be contacted by the university. Feelers an be sent out but no direct contact.
C) Gruden nor UT have publicly come forward to deny the Gruden rumors.
The work looking for a new coach can begin now but all but gruden can't start til December. So with that said there is nothing positive about announcing now if gruden isnt on the hook.
What are the negatives to being the first and most eager to the coaching market this season? Get our name out there and make it clear we're serious about getting this thing fixed. Riding it out with Dooley for another month sends the opposite message. It's not like there's really anything of value that can still be accomplished this year.
If we get bad weather off the storm and it stays until the weekend...the attendance figures could be in the 40k's.
Hart would be forced to go ahead and make whatever move it is that he's waiting on making.
Boosters and fans will have a panic attack at the sight of a more than half empty Neyland.

I agree, worrying about one recruiting class (a mediocre one at that) is what got us stuck with Dooley in the first place.

Sad but true.
I still have no confidence the UT administration can get this done.
