Maybe just maybe the 10 or 12 Doolaid drinkers who cannot see the writing on the wall will go away. But I doubt it they will be here to costantly remind us of the misery we have been going through.

MSU would lose to Florida, Georgia, SC, and we saw Bama kill them. Not a Dools fan but we must make a good hire. I am not convinced Strong would have a better record with Louisvile playing our schedule. They would not be undefeated for sure. UT should have beat MSU. Sal is the issue for Dools. He is what will cause his termination. Hope we get a good hire.

It wouldn't of mattered because he would of left the next year just like Kiffin. He would of left Tn for his dream job.

Yes. It is improvement if your overall goal is mediocrity. The last I checked this is the University of Tennessee and we want to play for championships. This is the most talented and experienced team fielded by UT in the last 5 years and Dooley has still managed to lose EVERY major SEC game on our schedule over the course of his 3 year tenure. Every other team is getting better and Tennessee is pedaling around 11th or so in recruiting in the conference. Things have not gotten better. Actually, taking into consideration the talent level opposed to the 2 previous years, things have gotten worse. Much worse.

I definitely remember his name being tossed around as it was getting close to making the new hire.

Ok......lets try again. Take away the super bowl win(and ring) whats grudens qualification to be a home run hitter in college football. Please someone give me a valid point. Cause his pedigree just don't show it.

It's his status.. His x's and o's are better than Dooley also.. It would be a huge upgrade in a lot of ways.. He's a guy who could go into these surrounding states and get players Dooley has no chance at getting.. In the end you can be a great coach.. Without great players you're average.. Gruden gets us on par with the rest of the SEC in recruiting.. Which in the end = wins..

If UT goes to a bowl this season under the current state of affairs (ie coaching staff), there won't be enough fans there to sing Rocky Top. I don't believe the fans would travel after this mess.

If you had the opportunity to hire Nick Saban as your high school coach, what qualifications does he have that make you think he would be a home run hitter in high school football? I understand your point, but the NFL trumps college which trumps high school. Saban and Spurrier tried to make in the NFL and were flops.

Why wouldn't you include his Super Bowl victory? Plus, he has won 5 Divisional Championships. His name recognition alone, will get us recruits like we haven't had before. Can you imagine when he shows up at a recruits home?

Gruden has a winning record coaching in the NFL. This isn't college football where you get to out-recruit other teams, and you don't get to play teams like Georgia State and the Akron Zips.

At Oakland, in the 3 years prior to Gruden, they never had a winning record. In his 4 years there, they never had a losing record. And, in the 10 years (not including this year) since he left, they only had 1 winning record.

At Tampa Bay, he won a Super Bowl.

Sorry but thats assumption. No way to tell if the better players don't still commit to bama,ga,fl,lsu should I continue. Alot recruits as well as parents may see the same thing many see. His record aint all that. Would you go with proven on college level or an nfl coach who hasn't done squat in the ncaa?

Everyone is going to feel dumb when it isn't John Gruden because he stays in the NFL and Kirby Smart ends up being our guy. Then what do we do.

And, I think Gruden will convert our defensive scheme from something out of a Laural and Hardy movie, to something to be respected, or feared.

Anyone who thinks Dooley in any way can be compared to Gruden, needs to up their medication.

The better ones are not going to come play for Dooley.. We're seeing that now.. You have to upgrade it from a recruiting standpoint.. You don't think a Superbowl winning coach could out recruit Dooley?? That's a assumption i'd be safe with saying yes too..
