so beating the other bottom feeders and a non BCS school would make you want Dooley back? WHY?

3 1/2 years later after a rebuilding...the IRISH are going to be the number 3 team in the country.

They have not beat Florida,Uganda,USC, or bama type opponents , no comparison in challange,

if they win out, Ut would probably get the music city bowl again---I'd rather get a bowl somewhere in fla where it's warm.

Seriously, 2 more wins and a Bowl? Isn't that improvement worthy of keeping him ono-board? A new hire only sets us back another 2-4 yrs. (plus) before we are a yearly Top 10 team. Couldn't DD be the next Dabo?

Beating a bunch of weak teams is NOT improvement...They are suppose to win those games...Beating the Ga St's and Troys and Akrons and the Kentuckys of the world is not accomplishing a damn thing and its sad sad sad that guys like you are reaching out for victories over losers like that to pad this season...Pretty pathetic.

0-6 to start the SEC schedule is improvement? Yeah, right, bub.

Ole Miss is already at 5 wins in Freeze's first year. We have 3 wins.

Oh what a difference Brian Kelly would have made, which is who I wanted when we hired the SoCal loser.

I wanted Kelly early on, but there was a rumor of something unacceptable about the guy. Nobody ever said what the something was, and now he is at Notre Dame in the top five. Maybe Kiffin just made the bigger impression.

Anyways, I wish we had won the SC game and the GA game, as I thought we would do in the final minutes, but I am not happy about the prospect of losing Coach Dooley. The numbers are there, so maybe I should be, but I'm not. This is the best team we've had in many years, and I just don't see turning on the man who is the heart and soul of it.

No but they did beat OU, Standford, and MSU. 3 teams Dooley would of lost to.

This set us back 4 year **** is a sorry excuse. If Dooley is not fired this year he will be next. So I guess they want to add another year to it. This is a guy who has never won anything, but you are acting like he has.

Just because this season isn't "championship caliber" doesn't mean it's not a step in the right direction. You can go from the putrid crap we had last year to 10-2 or 11-1 and in the SECCG in one year, I don't care who the coach is.

If we can win the last 4 games and a bowl game, it gives us momentum going into next year, and that's when we'll find out if Dooley can be "championship caliber" or not.

Keep telling yourself all this. He was a loser when he got here and he still a loser. We already know Dooley isn't a championship caliber coah , we don't need another year to confirm what we already know.

After a while, it becomes a question of judgement:

No one forced Dooley to switch to a 3-4 in a season where it was critical to demonstrate tangible improvement.

Compare Dooley's SEC record over the last two seasons to Johnny Majors' record in his second and third years. Majors had the significant win over a ranked opponent by that time. He had an even record in the SEC over that period after starting out 1-5 in the conference in his debut season. And he did all this at a time when Tennessee had God-awful facilities and played in a 115-scholarship era allowing big-time programs in talent-rich areas to hoard talent.

Against all of that, Majors was moving Tennessee forward and providing tangible proof of progress.

Dooley is the author of his own destruction. Yeah...we could win out. We should've won out last year as well against a similar SEC closing schedule. But that is the continuing theme of the Dooley era: Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda.

Ranked 8th in the SEC in recuiting this year behind Vandy. O-5 in his last SEC games which includes a loss to KY. Yeah let's keep him he is doing just great.

The only question for where UT goes Bowling, will it be at the Fountain City Lanes Strike and Spare or the Family Bowl in West Knoxville. :)

Did we try to hire Kelly? ND has a GOOD defense this year--but let's keep in mind who ND is playing and who we are playing--four SEC teams in top 15 nationally.

Only replace Dooley with a home run hire like Gruden. Strong. Etc other than that its not worth a recruiting class

That's my point...probably never even considered him. AND they handled OK pretty handily last night...

Ok,..what tune will you brilliant football gods (sarcasm) be singing when we are 7-5(or 6-6) and get a bowl invite? What was the record of the team last year? What bowl game did you enjoy in 2011?

so as once proud Tennessee fans, we settle for mediocre and bottom feeding bowls now??

How the mighty have fallen.....

Fans like this is what is wrong with the program now, willing to except mediocrity

One more thing...who cares who we play? Someone on the radio said it best. Everyone keeps talking about our 'tough schedule.' UT USED TO BE part of other school's 'tough schedule.' Now people wanna schedule us for homecoming...

NFL draft analyst Mike DeTillier said all 5 O-linemen should get drafted. Bray, Hunter, Rivera and Patterson will be drafted. That's 9 right there. So, 10 isn't a stretch.

I thought the team cared today or they wouldn't have been at the 19 yard line with a chance to tie or win it. We'll see after today's loss and anything that happens to Dooley whether their head will be in the games going forward.

And with all this offensive NFL fire power and we cannot score an upset in 3 years. If all those guys leave this year, do you have faith that Dooley would be better than he is this year?

Once the announcement is made, can we have a new forum for discussion of former coaches where all of these threads can be moved?

Let's say we win out and win our bowl game to make us 8 - 5.

Has anyone ever seen so many bone-head decisions and misalignments in a Tennessee team? I thought Dooley's first year was explained by a coaching staff transition. But we've seen the same problems over and over again every year he has been there. It's time for a change and everyone, including Hart, knows it.

I don't understand how anyone thinks this team is capable of winning 4 games in a row over anyone.. They go 6-6 if they're lucky.. Vandy beats them in Nashville this year or Missouri..
