Do you see him as a championship caliber coach? Most of us arent willing to settle for anything less; and I don't think Dooley has ever shown any sign of being that. Close only counts if your vandy or Kentucky.

and now...apparently Tennessee.

so beating the other bottom feeders and a non BCS school would make you want Dooley back? WHY?

3 1/2 years later after a rebuilding...the IRISH are going to be the number 3 team in the country.

Which followed how many other rebuilding efforts by how many other coaches? And did they inherit a program that had 65 scholarship players after getting it's third coach in three seasons?

Horrible comparison....Notre Dame hasn't been relevant since Holtz left in 1996, and they had patience with each coach in between...all THREE of them (Davie, Willingham, Weis.

There is no guarantee that the next coach will be the answer either. One year, more or less, in the grand scheme of things, isn't going to matter one way or the other IMO.

Ok,..what tune will you brilliant football gods (sarcasm) be singing when we are 7-5(or 6-6) and get a bowl invite? What was the record of the team last year? What bowl game did you enjoy in 2011?

WTH? Everytime I'm on here I cr*p on the guy and get push back. Now I think he is doing decent and none of ya'll agree? Yes, ya'll don't get football if you don't see on the field we are BETTER.

Do you live in a bubble? From the game against NC State, to the game today, please show me where we have gotten better. I struggle to see it.

This team may fight hard, but a team who's best characteristic is that it "fights hard" has a name. It's called "loser", and in the dog-eat-dog world of the SEC, it will almost always find itself at the bottom of the standings.

No one cares about the Liberty or music city bowl. In fact it's embarrassing.

Just because this season isn't "championship caliber" doesn't mean it's not a step in the right direction. You can go from the putrid crap we had last year to 10-2 or 11-1 and in the SECCG in one year, I don't care who the coach is.

If we can win the last 4 games and a bowl game, it gives us momentum going into next year, and that's when we'll find out if Dooley can be "championship caliber" or not.

This program doesn't deserve a bowl game. And, there wouldn't be one available other than the fact someone decided we needed all these useless bowls. If we went down to the actual number of real bowl games, a 7-5 team with wins over losers doesn't get a sniff. Bowl games used to mean something. Not anymore after a certain point.

the crazy thing is that talent wise we do deserve a bowl game but we've managed to achieve the absolute minimum success possible with the level of talent we have.

Has Dooley ever shown any signs of being a coach to take us there though? That's the question, and that's why he won't be retained. He hasn't.

I agree. This team/program could have been ranked in the top 15, at least, based on talent and potential. That's probably the biggest thing that bothers me about it. We have the talent to contend.

So, everyone is going to be excited over a 6-6 or 7-5 season and the best win being over a NC State team? That is what this has come to?

I think you are wrong. In football progress is progess. You are who you are on the field, "thats why you play the game". Look @ MSU,....they are getting it done on the field. Until they step on the field w/Bama and got their hat handed to em'. But ever seen MSU get the Natl. exposure like this before? It is a long season and I think we share a number of opponents with them,...look around and see where we are. On the field we are getting better. On the score board,....well - not so much. DD has earned time. (I still don't like him for lotsa reasons)

Hyams was saying that one of the NFL scouts that he talked to said that up to 10 players on this team could be drafted, included all 5 offensive linemen.

I seriously doubt that, but this team isn't as bad as it's shown, at least not in terms of raw talent. This team definitely shouldn't have collapsed against Florida . . . or any other team we've lost to for that matter.

TBH, I just don't think the players care anymore. It's a lot like last year, where they've just become so apathetic that they'd rather just move on. That's a reflection of the coach more than anything else.

and UT has been relevant when? and don't give me the backing into the SEC championship game.

MSU beat us and will have 10+ wins. They have no more talent across the board then us yet we will max out at 7 wins and 6 is more likely.

I think you are wrong, and your evaluation of this team is wrong. We should have progressed much more this year then we have. But hey, that's JMO.

Ole Miss is already at 5 wins in Freeze's first year. We have 3 wins.

Oh what a difference Brian Kelly would have made, which is who I wanted when we hired the SoCal loser.
