Official Jon Gruden Thread III

I appreciate what Old Vol, boro-Vol, DTO, JayVol, OCI, SBV etc. have posted about Gruden.

If they are correct, - and I hope they are - then Freak may have to make a new VN title for them. The title "Vol Nation Guru" may pale beside a title like "Vol Nation Insider" or so forth.

Vol calls next week

Hey Coach Gruden. First I gotta say is "goooo vols". I gotta question about that game that Derek Dooley lost last week. Why didn't you tell him to win that game?

Oh yeah and since you're runnin the show now, any chance you get dayyyyrick Rogers back on the team!

Go vols. I'll hang up n listen.

No...there was wishful thinking by some that we should keep him in the AD in some capacity. That is all.

His sh@tty attitude has done nothing to help him....but the losing definitely cut his throat.

So now your saying the rumors about him being promoted to AD just so we can bring in Gruden can all be laid to rest then....whew, thats a relief. lol (Hey man, its Friday) :hi:

I fail to believe that at all. I haven't heard this except from those that hate CDD to the point that its just stupid. Can't pass rumor around as facts. Atleast state it as a rumor.

It's not rumor. You are blinded by his folksy anecdotes, Southern drawl, and orange britches.

You drop a bomb on us like that and just act like nothing happened?

OCI reminds me of the BAMA bandwagon fans in Tennessee. Everything they do is for attention. They cant stand out in a crowd on their own without trying really hard to call attention to themselves.

It's called personel.. Jimmys and joes..That's why Wilcox couldn't blitz as much.. U are just looking for a reason to hate Dooley.. It's sad..

I am ready for Dooley to go, but this is the truth. Wilcox was hamstrung by his personnel choices.

I know most have a short memory, but we start 2 TRUE FRESHMAN at linebacker.....in the SEC....

I was not a fan of Wilcox, but he did the best he could with what he had.

You remind me of that deuce I just dropped...stinky and feels good to get rid of it.

Someone will have to paint the rock for them.

You Grudenites will be sitting here 3 years from now screaming for his head. The landscape is riddled with successful NFL coaches who failed big time while coaching college teams. Gruden wasn't even successful as an NFL coach. Just ask Tampa Bay Buc fans who will tell you he ran the program into the ground there.

Grudenites, just put your thinking caps on and don't just gush with your emotions.

Chances are slim he would even want to come here, but if he does, I will be behind him 100%, but expectations will be low.

I was outcast to the flatlands of Florida for many years before finding my way back home. I followed the BUCs from day one. Your rant has no basis…. Look at what he did with the Raiders and journeyman QB Rich Gannon before arriving at TB.

You are misinformed about Guden's time at Tampa Bay. He quickly rebuilt Dungy's pathetic offensive using only castaways and journeymen players (RB Mike Pittman, WR McCardell, Wr Joe Jurevicius, TE Ken Dilger) . He won the stinking super bowl with "BRAD JOHNSON" as the QB..... in his first year as TB's coach.

Mike Alstott was the only pro-bowl talent on the offense. Heck CJG's coaching put Brad Johnson in the pro-bowl that year.... brief pause to let that soak in.... yep journeyman Brad Johnson in the stinking pro-bowl.

The owners are what "ran the Bucs into the ground". That and the price in draft picks that TB paid Oakland for CJG. 2 first round picks and 2 second round picks. Take away your high draft picks and have your owners mortgage everything including the Buc's future to buy Manchester United and you have the reason things went downhill. Heck they let Sapp, Lynch, S. Rice, McFarland and others go instead of renewing their contracts.

The last few years, CJG was trying to compete in the NFL with Kris Simms, and a 7th round rookie pick from Toledo Grukowski (sp?) as the starting qb.

Do some homework next time; your lack of insight caused me to post again. (I am trying to reach first place in the "years-on-site vs low-post-count" competition). You might have cost me a new toaster you Jack-Wagon…..

Best Wishes,
CH_V

So what exactly are your connections? Student, Employee, friend, friend of a friend, aquaintance, or read message boards like the rest of us?

Some say he does not know anything more than what he reads and was formerly on this board as a different name. I personally dont know or care for that matter. Its always fun to hear any type of positive news, at least it takes away from people saying how badly the team has under performed this year... Gives us all some hope!:peace2:

You and I agree. I could absolutely be slammed in a thread like this because in all honestly until the MSU game I really wanted the guy to succeed, still do really. I just finally said eff it he isn't for whatever reason. I'll say this he never had a great situation here. In the end if we have Gruden and lots of success that may turn out to be fortunate for us fans. In other scenarios I think he's got enough skill that he could have hung around 5-6 years before getting let go.

Me too. I was all about giving Dooley every chance to succeed until the MSU game.

It became clear to me then that it is never going to happen. People can say what they want, but that game was all about coaching failure and had nothing at all to do with differences in talent, which I was willing to forgive in some of our games.

yea god, here you ______ go again. just to shut all you
______ that are asking for Gruden,i hope you get your wish and then he goes 1-11 next year.I will be the first one on here to say "I TOLD YOU SO".:whistling:
