Official Jon Gruden Thread III

SIAP: per TOS, gruden has talked to coaches about assembling a staff. one of the places hes talked to them about Tennessee. thats all we know for sure at this point. this is very possible guys

Come on...he does not deserve that. He has tried his best. I am confident of that. He needs to go; but he has tried to the best of his ability.
I don't believe that. I think Dooley micromanages everything. Why is it that Wilcox's defense looked nothing like it did at Boise St and now at Washington? He didn't blitz nearly as much here or anything. That's just one example. Dooley blowing up and acting like a lunatic on the sideline is another thing. I think he wants to control everything instead of just doing his part and allowing his assistant coaches to do theirs. There's a reason he's lost so many assistant coaches that left on their own terms and not on his.

This may or may not have been brought up before, so SIAP. I have a class here at UT taught by a very well connected professor who says that last year Dooley would pipe in crowd noise during away week practices. The noise was so loud that surrounding classrooms (especially amb) could not function. When approached about this by Hart, Dooley literally told him to f*** off. This put Hart in a very awkward position with Cheek and has soured Hart's attitude toward Dooley.

Your right. he acted like a 13 yo girl and said F off. Rumors are just rumors. We all hear what we want to hear and spin it how we want.

Don't just say that.. Tell mewhy..Why do u think Dooley would be such a bad ambassador for UT? Has he stayed in trouble with police or NCAA? Has he made Espn every week for something that has brought negative press to UT? I wanna know why u think he's such a bad guy.

He treats old people and dogs like crap!!!

Just kidding, it is well known those that like Dooley are those that only see his public persona.

I know it's already been discussed before so I'm not trying to "break" any news. But I just got a text from my dad who VERY well connected with some important people. He has been saying he hasn't heard anything other than internet rumors this whole time
In fact until today, he has been thinking the JG thing was a pipe dream. But he's at a golf tourney today and several affluent boosters and insiders are there. (High society golf tourney)

He just sent me a text that reads

"Solid info. UT offered Gruden 6 million. Peyton involved."

No idea what the Peyton involved part means until I talk to him later, but I swear to you guys, this is as legit as it gets.
I am a Peyton lover so the "Peyton involved" put me over the edge! :pepper:

I heard in his first season that inside the FB complex that DD was thought of as a micro-manager to a fault. That works fine if you win but sours very fast if you don't. Dictator is the 1st stage of management and is the most effective for an unorganized team but the problem is over time you're supposed to switch and the team is supposed to take over in leading itself. I don't think we ever made that transition. I could see where he could be a liked guy initially, hence some of his recruiting and then it all turn later, hence the reports of bad blood.

+1

There is a reason no coaches stay with the guys for more than 2 seasons.

Well it was the first indication he was over his head for sure, and that he was an azzhole wannabe comedian.

how was that any indication? Check out what the NFL did a few years ago when dealing with the same issue

maybe he presented it awkwardly but it was an actual issue

My point is...if he didn't care, he wouldn't be doing those things. I think he has tried but just doesn't know what he is doing.

I texted him back and asked if it was a done deal or not. He responded

"Gruden is strongly considering the offer. Not a done deal but very likely at this point."

But nick Saban micro manages and is a genius... I guarantee Dooley is nowhere near the control freak Saban is.

I'm kinda worried about Gruden cause I don't know if can keep our team's shower etiquette up to par. How strong is he in that department?

Saban is a micro-manager. So Dools learned that system and I am sure he is that way and can be an absolute jerk.

But that does not mean that he hasn't tried to win games

That should have been dealt with internally, not announced to Knoxville news media as Dooley's own personal "these guys can't warsh... that's why they need Derek MF Dooley...."

Ok man believe what you want, but this guy has forgotten more about what goes on at UT and SEC football in general than you can ever hope to possibly know.

I think that they need to Fire Dooley on November 5th after the Troy game, and then announce Gruden on November 6th. That way, if Obama wins, at least I have SOMETHING to keep me from drinking bleach.
