Just based on gut feeling, I say Dooley is out, and we don't get Gruden. That would be our luck, wouldn't it?

That is what I think will happen. This fanbase will be possibly even more fractured, and negative than they are now, simply because there will be no "homerun" hire. Just another guy very few want, or will get behind. I despise Gruden, but for the sake of inceasing positivity and good perceptions, for Volfans everywheres sake I hope it works out now.

Another thing...I am afeared that "We are one of only two teams in div 1 history that has never lost 8 games" thing we like to bring up is history, if something energising doesn't happen to this team.

a special teams/Tight end coach vs an offensive coordinator (who's offense led the team to a National Title), RB coach, QB coach ...

big difference.

making it seem as if Taggart can only recruit is a tremendous disservice to his football mind and what he does with that offense and that tea,.

I get it tho, you havent seen them play

Not to mention that, as a head coach, Taggart's teams have improved by a large margin every year.

Skeeter, you have mentioned in the past that if Dooley was gone, you felt that you would likely be exiting as well. Do you still feel that way, or do you think you will continue to clock in?

I dont know if Hart will clean house or not, he seems happy with alot of things around here. Hes not happy about Dooley at all.

As far as Gruden goes, i have not heard his name mentioned one time within the ad. If something has happened, the news must be coming from the Gruden end of things. The one name ive heard mentioned several times is Smart, but ive heard if Hart makes a move it would be for a proven head coach. Thats all i know.

Latest breaking news:
Hart resplits AD; he becomes Lady Vols AD
Dooley promoted to Men's AD

Hires
Archie Manning as HC
Who already has
OC Gruden
DC R Shannon

Retains all other staff x for CJC

UT sets record for staff salary @19.5 M before bonus stuctures.

Commit me. :)

Thanks again for your perspective.

So, basically, is it possible that we finish 7-5 (most likely) and everyone is talking out of their azzez right now and Dooley stays. That's what it sounds like to me, barring a blowout at the hands of spurrier.

Skeeter, may I invite you to take a look at te football forum and enter a thread titled "lots of hostile" :) it's a good one!

In that thread i left myself an out, if Wilcox and Sirmon was gone, then no deal. Im no dummy, sometimes. I knew Wilcox and Sirmon were looking and would leave for the west coast if the situation arose. I honestly feel if those guys hung around, we would only have 1 loss right now.

I think Dooley is done no matter what happens the rest of the year. If Dooley is our coach next year, it will be because Hart could not get who he wanted. Again, thats my opinion.

I don't think the record would change. Wilcox usually calls one good game a year. The gameplan he had versus UGA last year with Cover 0/ no safety in the middle of the field on fast WRs with not so fast CBs was ridiculous. And the Art Evans 1v1 on Julio Jones all game makes me laugh. Wilcox and Sunseri both are some of the worst D-Coordinators I've seen in the SEC.

A lot of opinions go out the window when the rubber meets the road. Most thought sal was a near home run hire

i think randy shannon was the HR hire - Sal was another wikipedia hire - he gets hired, you do a search, figure out he worked with Saban, assume he stole all Saban's magic, then convince yourself a top D is imminent

then you realize 7 games into the season that maybe there was a reason he had never been a DC at a big time school
