I'll just have to sit back and laugh if Taggart is our next coach. Put him next to Dooley on paper, and they're the same damn coach. Cool, Taggart beat a crappy Kentucky team. Dooley beat a crappy Mississippi State team. Cool, Taggart can recruit. Dooley was a recruiting coordinator at LSU. Cool, Taggart has a 14-17 record at WKU. Dooley was 17-20 at Tech.

Don't worry, won't happen.

I think Dooley is done no matter what happens the rest of the way. He needed to atleast be competitive against Bama. A South Carolina win doesnt look all that good anymore either, they have looked awful the past couple of weeks.

Wow. So it sounds like you believe that the decision has been made? Does that change if we can't reel in Gruden?

I cant even describe how incredibly annoying it has become to see Gruden being discussed in literally every single thread. And people really need to stop fanning the flames because in reality we aren't going to hear anything substantial until at least after this weekend, at the earliest.

I would hate for you to be trolling this forum.

I'm not. This is the absolute truth. When I first heard the Gruden rumors I did not believe them. Now that I have independently confirmed it, I feel very comfortable posting what I have posted. I'm not sure of the exact years or money, but Gruden will be our next head coach.

If Volnation has taught me anything, it's that nothing is EVER a done deal.

Exactly, and I don't mean any disrespect, but I highly doubt Chavisut and OCI will be the two to report this well before anyone else even mentions it on a legit media site.

Will be announced...?

Earliest is this Sunday. Latest is the week after the UK game. It really all depends on how stubborn Dooley is and whether he's willing to negotiate on his buyout. If he's not, he will be drug through the mud for the next month.

No amount of mud is worth giving up 5M. That's just stupid to hope for. Might as well get the announcement over with.

Well, that's pretty much that I guess. Feel really bad for him. On to better days I hope!

And please, no "I don't feel bad for anyone walking off with 5 million". He has given all he has and it was not enough. If you have ever been in that position, you know the pain

Skeet, do you think the new coach will consider keeping a few position coaches who have done an excellent job this year...mainly Graham, Pittman, and possibly Hinshaw (for recruiting purposes)?

Dooley has breached his contract through certain actions he has taken. He would be smart to agree to a slight reduction ($250K to $500K range) to be done with it.

I kinda doubt it. Head coaches despise potential old regime allegiances

At this point, nobody knows but I would bet on Graham being retained.

The latest from LWSVOL at TOS:
"I think all that has occurred to date is talk with 3rd or 4th parties to see if there is interest. there has been no deal even close to being made per my sources.

Hart and Tennessee would lose respect throughout the football universe to strike a deal before even having an opening. everyone checks on interest but having direct contact with a coach still in place, you cannot be trusted in the future.

I've checked with sources I know at ESPN and none believe Gruden is headed to any college but back to the NFL, next season. One source got that comment directly from a Gruden co-worker on Monday nights.

I realize that could change if talks get to a serious point but don't expect that until there is an opening or I should say IF there is an opening.

I've been out and getting text messages and emails with various places saying there is a done deal. I do not believe it is close to going that far. per my contacts"
Bottom line is that since Dave Hart came aboard, the leaks at the highest level in the UTAD have been sealed. Nobody has access to what Dave Hart is thinking or doing except Hart and Jimmy Cheek.
