It's year 3, and now he's saying his All-SEC receiver isn't doing the things he needs to do to get drafted in the 1st round. This wasn't a problem until after the Bama game, was it??

We are not talking Coach Dooley. You first say that coaches should not do this. Then, you say coaches that have hardware can do this. Now, you are saying coaches that have put players in the NFL can do this. Which argument are you going to stick with? You are all over the place.

Damn. Thread going nowhere. Hunter if not hurt, should be going all out for his "family". If he ain't, that is akin to treason. I don't care what Dooley said to him. If he had 10 td catches, Dooley wouldn't say **** to him anyway. -- But, he will get drafted somewhere and move on from UT in a few months. I wish him well but I also wish WE could get some wins out of our NFL players. Sucks to watch them go pro and run wild while they were losing every big game while at UT.

I don't think publicly challenging your players is ever a good idea. Never have, and never will.

That being said, if someone is winning at a high clip, and they choose to question a players commitment to being a great player, then it's going to be received much better than someone who is doing the same thing, yet has never won anything. I still don't agree with the practice, no matter who it is. A coach represents his players, and should leave any criticism, even if it's very eloquent, out of the press conference.

I don't agree with this at all. There are times when guys make a splash at the combine, and they move up the board. However, it doesn't mean they are better players. We will see how Dontari Poe's career unfolds along with Darius Heyward-Bey.

I have heard the argument that GM's watch how players act and react on the field itself. How do they handle adversity? How do they make plays in certain situations? NFL players aren't made in the combine...plain and simple.

Does it matter?? As a player, do you want to see your coach questioning your ability to a bunch of guys with cameras, even if he has done it behind closed doors?? I wouldn't be happy with it, because that's something he needs to come to me and talk about, not the guys with a scratch pad and a voice recorder.

We out talented NCSU. It was a problem during the Florida game. Been one ever since. Dude is a no-show. If he is a first rounder we should be able to depend on him to affect the defense. We should be able to use him to win big games. AJ Green and Julio Jones were factors in games of consequence. Thus their draft status. Hunter has not been a factor yet. What is his draft status looking like?

I honestly think that Bray is more of a problem, than Hunter is. That's just me though.

You have your workout warriors. The poster children are Tony Mandarich and Mike Mamula. But the GM's tend to look at actual football games to decide on those top picks. Certainly he has film out there against UF & Bama for scouts to look at. Wont be pretty either. The Georgia St tape looks great though. Better lead with that one :) .

At this point, he is not playing like "the best player on the team". If you pat him on the back and tell him it's ok then nothing changes. I am sure this isn't the first time JH has heard this.

well while i dont know if this was the right move to do it in front of the media, i wonder if dooley has talked to him in private many times and he just isnt getting it and maybe he felt the only way it would get through to him is if he called him out in front of everyone...some guys need it, although it could have been done by just benching him or at least not starting him

If Bray knew any other throw than being able to throw it through a wall, both Hunter and Patterson would be more effective.
