When opposing teams and media are positive about your coach and saying good stuff you better look out. I heard stuff like that tonight. The other teams dont want you to get a better coach. After all, I would have been fine with South Carolina keeping Brad Scott because he was great LOL.

As much as I'm starved for a big win, and as much as I still am not sold on Dooley, I'm really not that mad about this game at all. The team today showed more heart than it has the last 2 years combined.

Changing to the 3-4 takes 2 YEARS to get it down pat in the NFL and our kids are only 5 GAMES into it so all smart people expected alot of mistakes.

Running game was excellent by last years production and against the number 5 team in the nation.

Our kids never gave up until the game was over and that IS how we expect Tennessee to play even against top ranked teams so I think we may have turned a corner there.

We still don't have a stacked SEC roster like all top SEC teams has but we are getting there and by the time CDD has 4 of his recruiting classes on campus and CSS has another year to get our kids perfected on the 3-4 we'll knock heads with anyone in the SEC and that inclused alaBubba.

I believe AD Hart is seeing the progress he wants to see and I see things moving in the right direction too.

We all want is NOW and alot faster but that's just not how college football works unfortunately.

Just 2 or 3 plays go differently and our Vols would have gotten a huge Win.

I'm proud of our footVol players and the coaches did a good job against a top 5 team.

Excellent post!!! Someone with a little football knowledge finally post something worth reading. Some of the posters are showing their ignorance when it comes to football knowledge. The nega posters were saying before the game GA will whup us like stepchildren, etc., etc. I for one saw an offensive team grow up yesterday, with 60 minutes of hard fought football. Defense is going to be in the growing stages of the 3-4 for the rest of the season. With a little help next year, with some defensive recruits, and a year under the current players belts, this defense will be much improved. Furthermore if Bray, CP, & possibly JH return next year and we get that beast of a rb, then we'll see something special. I think we can win 9 games this year, 8 minimum. GBO! VFL!

I want to win, I want to win NOW. But I also understand we're facing realities imposed by the Fulmer-Lane years. However, we're overcoming them. People who choose to open their eyes can see this. If Gruden is hired, WHEN not IF but WHEN he loses (lousy recruiter) you will be the first to whine.

From what I understand, Gruden likes to come in when a program is ready to take off, get the credit the 1-2 good years then mismanages the program into mediocrity. Then it's whine time again.

We are starting to sound like Vandy fans with all this talk about he we played with "heart" in a losing effort. And how we hung in there against "the number 5 team." Sad. Equally sad is all this BS about it takes years to adjust to the 3-4: that's the lamest excuse of all.

We got some adjustments to make on defense. We need some speed in the secondary. The running game looked to me like it grew up. Bray has to make better decisions and protect the ball. We have an off week to work on all of this. We dont need to clean house just dust a little. Calm down you cant win them all! GO VOLS

This is just sad. And what this whole thread is about. You're proud we lost because it was close. We have the talent to win these games bet we never do. I'm not happy with losing. I don't care if the score is 99-98. Or 1-0. A loss is a loss

Gruden would be a mediocre recruiter? I find that hard to believe. I can't envision gruden sitting in some kids living room talking to his parents and them no being totally overwhelmed. This guy is a huge name in the football world and a superbowl winning coach. We'd have top recruiting classes every year. And his record is 550? What's dooleys. I know at this point 0-12 against ranked teams as tn coach

We were in this game due to our coaching. The talent level across the board between UT and Ga. is nowhere near being the same. Georgia had superior talent had virtually every position. Even our strongest of positions (QB, receivers, LB's) can not be interpreted to be at the same level as Georgia's. WOW... That's asinine...

We are at best, another 2 to 5 years away talent-wise to be a top 5 team... There's a difference between being a fan and being unrealistic. You fall in the latter's category...

I personally would love to see our coaching staff with the talent level that Georgia possesses. And I think in a couple of years, we will see that! But, UT is NOT there yet!
