The defense gae up to many points and the offense had to score without help from defense. I still think Dooley will gone if he does win any big games and Kentucky does not count Oops we lost to them last year.

The defense did help the offense with 3 turnovers

I knew people would be on here talking about moral victories and we fought for 60 minutes. Fact is we lost. Again. To me the play that resonates most is attempting a fg down 2 scores with about 4 yards to go at the 10. I screamed at the tv when the kicking team came out. I'm so sick of losing every big game!!!!! Let's go throw 5 mil at gruden

You got 5 mil?
Chuck it out there bro.
Somebody else got 3 more?

Well... We didnt score enough to win so.. 52 woulda worked. Also the d scored 6 of those and put the offense inside the ten on two series. The d can be blamed im not arguin with you boi!

FWIW...GA has only allowed 40+ points in the last 30 games....twice last year to S.C and LSU (SECC) and once in 2010 to Auburn.

If the "D" had even partially shown up we would've won with 35 points. Granted they had a excellent 2nd qtr but 51 points and 290 yrds rushing (by two freshmen) thru 3 Qtrs is not going to win games.

I saw a team turning the corner today. These guys ran the ball tough, showed a few imaginative plays and fought back twice against a very talented program.

I don't know exactly what you expected to happen when playing #5 team in the country but hanging with them, getting right back in there when we had to, finding a running game and causing turnovers makes me damn proud of this game. Was it perfect...no...was it improvement...heck yes!

I'm glad you're happy that we didn't forfeit based on their high ranking. Leave the Vanderbilt-talk to Vanderbilt and start expecting more from this historically great program than the bare-minimum.

I dont think anyone is taking this as a moral victory. I think we all got a dose of reality against Florida. We played a pretty good game against NCSt, and most of us thought we were better than we actually were, also thought Florida was worse than they actually were...and truth is, we have talent, we have a little more quality depth, but we are still not where we want to be and we had hoped that after 3 years we would be competing for the SEC Championship, which can happen when you have a coach like Saban, reality is, there are not many Sabans...and reality is 3 years ago the UT job was a total rebuild from the bottom up...like it or not, that is the truth. Reality is even if Saban, or Gruden or whomever had taken this job 3 years ago, it would have taken time. Could they have done it quicker? Probably so, but it is what it is right now. Noone is happy about losing, i think we can all agree on that, but you have to ask yourself...did we improve last year from the year before? have we improved this year from last year? Yes. Remember this, there has been more inconsistency at UT in the last 5 years than the previous 30 years prior. This season we have completely changed our defense...and unfortunately that takes time too. Im not saying "accept mediocrity" or "be happy with a moral vistory"..no, be mad and disappointed, we all are, but be glad that today it seemed our team fought till the end, be glad that it looked like some of these guys grew up a little today, be glad that we went toe to toe with the #5 team and had more than one chance to win this game...there is alot of positive for those that choose to look for it...and plenty of negativity too...the kicking game for one. But lets see how they respond now. We should beat Miss St, should beat Mizz...and from the looks of things we should beat USC....lets see how the next 4 weeks play out. I certainly feel better now than i did this time yesterday.

All true and i agree, but the d set the offense up twice inside the 10 and had 6 points. The offense scored 30. Which imo should been enough because the d shoulda never given up 51. Not tryin to be negative i just cant praise chaney for doing his job the way he is suppose to for one of the first times i can remember.

Exactly! Everybody is commenting we should all be happy. They're ranked whatever...what have we come to. Look up recruiting rankings the last 5 years. Depending on what formula u use (wether u count juco and deduct for players no longer with the team) we are right there with ga. The posters on hear can celebrate all they want. Not me. This sucks. I don't care if the score is 99-98. Or 1-0. I'm sick of losing to all our rivals. We need a coaching change

LMAO @ all these Grudenite idiots.

CDD isn't going anywhere and Gruden will NEVER coach at Tennessee.

Changing to the 3-4 takes 2 YEARS to get it down pat in the NFL and our kids are only 5 GAMES into it so all smart people expected alot of mistakes.

Running game was excellent by last years production and against the number 5 team in the nation.

Our kids never gave up until the game was over and that IS how we expect Tennessee to play even against top ranked teams so I think we may have turned a corner there.

We still don't have a stacked SEC roster like all top SEC teams has but we are getting there and by the time CDD has 4 of his recruiting classes on campus and CSS has another year to get our kids perfected on the 3-4 we'll knock heads with anyone in the SEC and that inclused alaBubba.

I believe AD Hart is seeing the progress he wants to see and I see things moving in the right direction too.

We all want is NOW and alot faster but that's just not how college football works unfortunately.

Just 2 or 3 plays go differently and our Vols would have gotten a huge Win.

I'm proud of our footVol players and the coaches did a good job against a top 5 team.

VFL...GBO!!!

Chaney should have been gone a long time ago. I have agree I cant rememebr the last time we won a big game and firing Fulmer was the biggest mistake they ever made.

What part makes me an idiot? Expecting to beat a ranked opponent. Ever. If your happy because we played Uga close maybe u should try rooting for vandy. They'd probably gladly except a new fan

Here is something to be positive about... Next time we play UGA they'll still have Richt and Co. while we will have upgraded from gutter trash.

Chaney actually called a decent game tonight. The install of the 3-4 D was going to hurt this year and we knew that from the get go.
