'13 JUCO DT Toby Johnson

I think TJ is the silent on the DL that skeeter mentioned but didn't explicitly say a name . He has more ties to UT than CP ever had and it will be hard to see him go anywhere other than the SEC.

When did skeeter mention a silent DL recruit? The only silent I remember anyone talking about was OL Koehler.

A poster on VQ asked PF about Johnson, he said if Tennessee wins & this staff stays intact then he thinks Johnson will be at Tennessee.

Getting that momentum rolling will be nice.

And then hopefully showing Florida what's up on ESPN.

I don't know if Toby Johnson would rather be in a 4-3 or a 3-4. Oklahoma plays a 4-3, I think. Their depth chart on Rivals shows four senior DT's in the two deep, although one of them has been indefinitely suspended.

Opportunity does seem pretty high at OK. If he comes to UT and plays DE in a 3-4, then he should be able to at least get in the two deep if not become a starter in 2013.

This is a really good point, and makes me a little more concerned with TJ. If TJ comes to UT, then his 1st year we should have our starting 3 returning (Sentimore, Couch, and McCullers). Granted I think he could easily crack the 2 deep, and who knows, he may be good enough to win a starting job. The point raised about Oklahoma's depth and losing their starting D line after this year is a little concerning. Hopefully TJ still chooses to be a VFL.

TJ is not scared off by our depth chart at DL.

Jmoore. Im sure you've discussed it somewhere on VN before but do your prefer rivals or 247? Seems like 247 lacks a little in recruiting info. It takes a lot for Wes or Ryan to ever make a bold prediction or release any type of info before its already a few days old.

That because they betray the recruit's confidence if they do that. You'll never see that change.

TJ has more going for him in terms of choosing UT than CP did last year. CP took visits, and now TJ is taking his visits and seeing everything anyone has to offer.

You do realize that was in 2009 and it's almost 2013, right?

I take that as a compliment now. All anyone has is something I said 3 years ago.... and how would you even know that, stalker? You have only been on here for a few months. Or did everyone ignore you, so you had to make a new screen name? :) Yeah that's it isn't it?

You should check OCIVol's posts. You would have a hay-day.

I didn't say Toby Johnson is all about OU. Toby Johnson said that himself.

You mad?

That's good to know. How nice is it though to actually be worried about possibly missing on an elite talent, because of our D line depth? Nice change of pace finally!

I'll let you guys fret and whine over TJ while I chill out in another thread where there's a possibility we don't land the guy. We'll see soon.

Quick recap for those who didn't know:

Ben Bradley (UT commit) is TJ's current roommate. CP was TJ's roommate last year. Also, TJ keeps in close communication with Brandon Staley (UT GA and former Hutchinson CC DC).

We're are going to have to recruit this guy hard until he decides, but UT is going to be named the leader in the media, IMO, regardless of what happens until he decides.

Johnson says "everyone is pretty even" and so far he's taken unofficial visits to Texas A&M, Arkansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Tennessee.

Last year at Hutchinson he had 53 tackles, 10.5 for losses, with two sacks.

-Rivals

Everyone is pretty even really means Oklahoma and Tennessee in the lead.
