Be honest, despite all his talent, with that roster and the way Saban recruits do you really want him?
I thought this guy said he was shutting it down after his boys got offered by Clemson?
Pretty much, he said if Clemson offered Carter, he was shutting it down. It was a pretty irresponisible article by the AJC in all fairness though. But at the end of the day, that was the message.
Clemson hasn't offered Carter, and likely won't. With that, one would expect he wouldn't shut down his recruiting. He's planning on taking all 5 official visits at this point.
The part that's moving the most is the line between which CU commitments can OV other schools, and which ones can't.
Just a thought, but do. you think he will keep his commitment to Clemson until one of the last weeks/days of NSD and then flip? Reason I say that is it would make sure his boys get a ride to Clemson, and it would almost be to late to over recruit some of the less talented of his friends. It may be a ridiculous idea, just a thought
Dabo has never made that an iron-clad rule, although for some reason that is how it is percieved by outsiders. It was always done on a case by case basis. Two people so far have had offers pulled, Lane and McDonald. There was A LOT going on for both outside of taking other officials.
Dabo's stance on that is that he tries to discourage kids from commiting if they aren't ready. If they are, he doesn't see a reason for taking other visits. I'm sure he doesn't see a reason for RN taking these visits, but it doesn't mean he's gonna pull the offer.
I have no issue with a coach telling a kid to not commit until he is 100% sure. I think if a kid wants to take his OV's, then he should not commit anywhere until he has done so. The whole "He is just having fun" thing may be true. As a coach I would tell him to have his fun then, before pulling the trigger on where he is going.
Kids do not like when a coach is recruiting guys for their position when they have already committed. If the kid wants the coach to trust he will be a part of the class, the kid should not be taking visits and shopping himself around. It goes both ways.
If CU does not sign RN will they 5 spots open on NSD or will they honor the ones for his friends?
Beverly was alarmed when she returned this summer to learn how serious Robert's commitment to Clemson was being reported.
"His decision is not final," she says. "He's just a teenager, and people are forgetting that. We had never discussed Clemson, and I am unhappy with Clemson. I'm not there, so I don't know for certain, but I feel like Robert was pressured into this decision." She'll return later this fall to escort Robert onto the field for senior night.
