The Runner's thread

Ran 7 miles in the 80+ degree weather with what felt lik 90% humidity yesterday. After my run my shorts looked like I had taken a dip in the river. Been feeling completely spent since then so I decided to take today off.

I can imagine. My shorts were soaked after just three miles. Are you taking anything for recovery after your runs?

3.2 last night 7:16 pace. Man my run last night felt great. It wasn't as hot as it has been and after I was finished I felt great.

8 mile tempo run. 2 mile warm up, 4 miles at tempo pace, then a 2 mile cool down. The 4 miles a T pace was done in 26:05 for a little bit over a 6:31 average.

Humidity was killer today. Was pretty close to 100% with a dew point of 72*. Could have gone faster if I was actually able to breath.

If my step son wasn't going in the army I would totally make him be my trainer. He is some powerful motivation.

Hey guys. I have a question about running shoes. I think I have an under-supinating foot because with my current shoes, my foot gets pressed against the outside of the shoe and my little toe rubs a lot. Do any of you have this problem or know which shoe I should try? I've tried the Nike Pegasus and Vomero, and although they help a little, my outer toes still sort of press against the outside of the shoe.

A running store would help greatly. Are you naturally flat footed? I am which causes issues for me. If I'm not mistaken, that's the same as under supinating, right? If so, you can go to most manufacturer's websites to get an idea of what shoes you should look for. Right now I use the Brooks PureCadence and they are the best show I've ever run in.

Ran a slow 43 minute 5 mile today. But it was on the sand of the beach in my fivefingers. Plus my calves are still sore from my Crossfit workout Thursday night

have you tried tapeing your toe?i would also try a half size smaller shoe or a narrower shoe.i love asic shoes for running.i had a pair with the jel hill and they were great.a sole insert might help also.

Taping your toe could really screw up your foot. Your toes are independent for a reason. Taping your toe seems a great way to get a stress fracture. Also if your toe rubs, wouldn't you wanna go a half size larger?

Most shoes designed for flat footed people have a slightly larger toe box because the foot is wider around the toes.

taping your small toe would keep the shoe from rubbing your small toe.i didn't say anythig about taping toes together.a smaller shoe would form to the foot.a larger shoe would just cause blisters.

My bad about the toe. A smaller show either way will make your whole foot cramp into the shoe and create blister problems as well add increase the likelihood of stress fractures, Achilles heel problems and shin splints. Getting a chiropractors for flat footed people with the wider type box solves the problem most likely. But I'd go with a recommendation from a specialty ruining store after they actually look at his feet

Got a late start on Saturday and only had time for two miles before I left out of town. Got a lot to do tonight so hopefully I will get to run tonight.
