Where did life begin? (Merged)

Do you believe we have a creator, aka "God"?

Well, I don't know you, but you seem religious. So, I wouldn't think that would be something you were being sarcastic about.

What, because I am a Christian I can not have fun? :) By the way, I am not "religious". I do not follow all the man rules that are "religion".

Me too. I was once asked to not come back to a small bapist church.
people being wrong doesn't make God wrong.

Church I went to growing up had a kitchen where people could get donuts and juice after Sunday School, before Church. There was always this lady there that would help with the refreshments, but never went to Sunday School or the service.

Found out later she was the mistress of one of the deacons there. She went to be with him. True story.

My personal bias is well documented in these forums. for those of you who don't know, I'm a Conservative religious nut job. I believe God created all things billions of years ago and gave it a push.

Do you mean that God created "all things" in a relatively short interval, like several days, but that this creation occurred billions of years ago? And by "all things" do you mean a whole bunch of different species of plants and animals or just all the things one usually finds in a primordial soup? Please clarify.

from there everything evolved after it's own kind.

I don't understand what this means. Can you clarify?

My question is for those who come from an opposing view point.
How did life spontaneously start form non living mater?

You must be one of them religilous whackos. All the maters I've been acquainted with were either living or had been living just a while ago. Well except for some mater seeds that I got from the old farmer down the road from my Mom's house. Come to think of it, I think he was a religilous whacko too. He was always ordering God to damn this thing and damn that person all to Hell. Anyway, I don't believe life originally sprang up from my maters or anybody elses.

...Just trying to get back to the original question....

I believe that the 7 days of creation are 7 periods of time. (much much much longer than 24hrs each)
I do not like the gap theory. The big bang is not the same as "let there be light". When God said "let there be light" there was already land and sky. "Let there be light" is from an earthly perspective where the atmosphere cleared and allowed light in. Plants and animals were created (intelligent design) again over time. they reproduce after their own kind. Cats mate with cats to produce cats. Cats and Rabbits do not make Cabbits. Natural selection works with in a species.

Hope that helps you understand where I'm coming from.
