How?

What does science have to do with Christs message?

At rest stop.
Examples please

To me, since many historical facts claimed as truth in the Bible have been disproven, you cannot accept the Bible as fact.

I didn't say anything about God's message being disproven. Just that I cannot believe in the Bible as a statement of truth, and must find my own.

Because of the discrepencies, I would need a lot more than "faith" to fully accept anything from the book.

What part of christs message to you disagree with?

I always struggled with the flood when I was in church, just simply because you cannot build a boat large enough to house two of every animal on earth.

Then comes Jonah and the whale, the tower of babel... et cetera.

It cannot be a history book. Some of the stories are too outlandish. I acknowledge the existence of Jesus Christ, but not as a half man/half god combination.

As Ive grown older and explored more the "stories" to me are of oral family yraditions. IE my grandfather being larger than life when in all actuality he was just a normal guy. Got to throw flare in.

Not two of every animal but two of every major species. Its been recreated.

I remember reading about a modern individual being swallowed by a fish and
surviving but Id need to double check.

is the language issue difficult to accept with babel? Interesting to note that languages groups share distinct traits that dont carry over from one group to the next. Almost like it was programmed in our brains rather than evolving from a single common source.

Huh? There is an insane amount of overlap between languages. Different regions obviously have completely different languages, when those regions are primitive and do not interact with other modern cultures.

Short earth?

You believe this is cannon?

There is no evidence to accept anything in the Bible, other than that it is written in the Bible. Therefore, if there are inconsistencies and/or inaccuracies, how am I supposed to blindly trust any of it without some scientific evidence? There are plenty of other holy books I could blindly turn to, OE.

Wow, I simply meant you believr christians as a whole subscribe to short earth?

Yes, in my opinion if part of it isn't true, that doesn't mean none of it is true. But, I'll certainly want more evidence before I accept it as truth.

The way I view it, is if I am wrong, and life doesnt matter and following what the bible doesnt matter, because everyone goes to heaven...I have lived a good life anyway.

There's a lot of people, I feel, that live their lives this way. And, IMO, it's how religion has propagated this long.

If you don't know whether or not it's true, you'd rather be wrong in the way that doesn't involve in you burning in hell for all eternity. Quite sad, really.

It's like one of those chain letters that say forward this to 10 people or you will die in the next year. Some people think, well I better just forward it.

For starters, the age of the Earth and of mankind.

This will be a thead in the not to distant future.

The earth and universe is very old and that is what rhe bible teaches.
if you want to read ahead try "a Biblical case for an old earth" by David Snoke.

Examples of inconsistencies?

One concept that I struggle with is consciousness. And that is the primary reason that I retain a higher power as a strong possibility. AFAIK, there aren't very many great theories to explain where consciousness comes from.

What's really interesting is how our consciousness affects our surroundings. i.e. the whole "if a tree falls in the woods" question and quantum mechanics.

I almost went with consciousness insted of life in this thread. Partly because I believe AI will become a reality soon. The reason i did not was I believe we are closer to understanding how God turned raw materials into life.

I thought that I settled that.

Overlap in language families or groups but not from family to family. not much overlap in word and sentence construction from latin based language to oriental to arabic.
