I think we should just feel extremely blessed that Santos is pretty much the only recruit on the fence at this stage of the game.

I'm not so sure about this. If they're still taking visits, and still talking to other coaches, then I'm still a little nervous. Bourque especially.

Edit. Nevermind. I just looked at his thread. Great news!

....I only talked about this past season because this was the first time in a while they started a season highly ranked and hung around the top 25 because of that initial ranking. The decade before that they weren't ranked "consistently" by any means......

The state of Texas produces 400 FBS kids a year. Texas can recruit 20 to 25. All Longhorn fans know plenty will get away. The only time fans get pissed is when we blow off a guy who wanted to be a Horn, like Drew Brees, who turns out to be great.

Texas has a lot of key guys like Jackson Jeffcoat and Jordan Hicks who could go pro after their Jr years. Santos would be expected to step up pretty soon. This idea he wouldn't start for years at Texas is silly.

Steve Edmond is a sophomore who will start for Texas at MLB the next 2-3 years. He was the 31st ranked player in the whole country in 2011. Obvioulsy Santos was not highly thought of at Texas and will be recruited over the next year or two, he will probably end up as a DE at Texas and if thats ok with him then he should go live a Texas kids dream. However as Joshc stated above, the BIG 12 is a pass happy wide open league with teams like Baylor, Tech, the Oklahomas and KSU who play 3-5 wideouts all game, which means nickle and dime packages which doesnt fit Santos style at all. Hes my favorite recruit simply because hes someone we could plug in the middle of the defense and for once have someone there who says, "run the ball, I dare you" thats his game, he can use that at UT, how often will he at Texas?

I thought Sirmon at first but then wondered. Probably a good guy to help him flesh out his prospects moving ahead at LB.

well either way, i think now that the dust is settling and we are sending our sheriffs to down i feel more confident. i think the santos wants another sit down with the coaches,if he was all texas they prob would have said thanks but no thanks.

There's a lot of reasons the package-deal of Wilcox/Sirmon did not go to Texas last year. Some things were said by Mack Brown that really infuriated Wilcox and Sirmon. Those feelings have not subsided.

As some have alluded to, Dalton needs to look at the story of a certain #18 for the Green Bay Packers...think he would've had the success in college at UT that he did at UK? Not a chance. Would he be in the NFL? Hard to say.

different coaches, but I see your point....with CSS it becomes even more of a better choice....

What are we saying here? That sirmon went out if his way to talk to ds and give him his opinion or that ds reached out to sirmon?
