'12 VA DT Korren Kirven (Bama signee)

Thanks for your input... I hope you are wrong, but it looks like a parent (or parents) way of appeasing a son, so they can get him to go where they want.... JMO

I hope that is not the case for his sake as well as UT's. If he doesn't like VT then he suffers as do his parents. A 5 hour drive isn't all that significant of a barrier if he really does not want to be at VT.

I hope I'm wrong

Me too, but from what you said earlier about the parents not giving the coaches the time of day, and now willing to come visit UT... I am guessing that they are simply trying to satisfy him about a visit here. My guess is he may want us to be in the picture, but they want VT

I am simply reading between the lines, have no real information....anyway, not getting my hopes up

Me too... this would be a BIG get with some of the D-line we have and the ones we already have committed. This could be a VERY improved Defense next year, if just two of these guys pan out....

I know the secondary was talked about a lot, but the D-line was not putting enough pressure on and we were expecting young D- backs to cover for to long .....Again JMO

And what makes you think that?

I apologize. I read the quote wrong this morning. They are coming here with him mid week. He visited Bama last weekend and will take his official to VT this weekend. He will be hosting all his finalists at his school and home this week per Rivals. My mistake. :hi:

Thanks for clarifying. That changes things. There is real reason for optimism IMO.

Did Hubbs mention that the parents visiting were exclusive to Tenn or if they are going to all his finalist?

The answer to this is the key to if there is reason to get excited.

his parents are going to host all the coaches at their home. but his parents are going to come check out UT this week. obviously the kid is liking something.

It would probably depend upon their financial situation. 3 hours wouldn't bother me. It might be a real problem for his family and trying to arrange coming to see him play. Then again it might not. Not sure...

Don't know why a parent would want their kids at VT. There are approximately 2 shooting's a semester at that school, it's getting bad up there safety-wise from what former grads have told me.

That's pretty much what happened. That and young linebackers. Gradually won't be the case as we build up talent though.

If this visit happens then I would think it's matter of Kirven wanting to come here and trying to convince his parents to be comfortable with a place that they aren't as familiar with as they are VT...

Just my 2 cents
Yeah a midweek visit with his parents screams that he is really interested and not just taking a trip for fun. I think we've got a shot here. Maybe VT in the end but definitely a chance. I think the distance issue is overplayed. Who is coaching my son is more important than an extra few hours of driving but if all other things are even distance might win out.

I think Alabama is not a factor with him now, even after his visit. It looks to be down to UT and VT with Korren preferring UT/Sunseri and his parents wanting Blacksburg.

Another thing that should be considered: Did Kirven's parents attend his other OVs? Maybe they did and UT is the only school they have yet to see.

Just a thought.
