'12 VA DT Korren Kirven (Bama signee)

I have felt we had a decent shot for Kirven for a long time, but with this news of a mid-week visit with his family in tow I feel we have a very high probability of landing him on NSD. Kirven has been to VT dozens of times and there is really nothing new they could show him this weekend to change his mind.

You just don't come for a mid-week visit and bring the family along a week before NSD unless you are very serious about the program -- and that is doubly true when you are paying for it out of your own pocket and when you have coaches from various top programs scheduled for in-home visits every day next week, including Alabama.

Unless something really strange happens when they come that causes the family to not like us, Kirven will be a Vol on NSD.

I would agree this is a good sign. However, he has been a VT fan forever and Lynchburg is VT country. Fortunately, distance should not be too much of an issue. Sunseri is a plus and Palermo could be a factor. We can really use him.

the guy has great poise, and technique even for a HS senior. I'm sure with some coaching and S&C he will end up a contributor, i never understood why rivals dropped him, but i think alot of their ratings are based on when things happen, the guys recruitment was pretty basic, no drama, and no twists and turn. for what its worth i think they put more stock in those players who have that drama, JMHO, but you could certainly make that case.

If Rivals dropped him then he has told Alabama that he is not coming there.

I am wondering if we have an academic program that is not offered by VT that he may be interested in?

Yeah. They are going to UT, Bama, VT, and Maryland. Maryland is the dark horse and IMO not a big threat. VT is probably leading at this point.

That changes the excitement level a lot. Nothing to see here if they go to all 4 schools.

For some reason I don't think he ends up at VT. This kid has visited so many places so many times. I know he's visited VT a lot, but maybe Kirven is looking for a reason not to go to VT, haha. Jay thinks he ends up at Bama, and he hasn't been wrong many times at all this year.

The way I interpreted it, those schools were going to visit him at his high school this week, not him visiting them. I could be wrong though, I only saw what was posted from the article on the previous page, certainly something could have changed just like his plans changed and he's coming for the mid-week visit.

It's important to look at the totality of circumstances with any recruit and not take one piece of news and let it sway a realistic take on where a recruit picks on NSD.

I would like to know what is accurate about the other schools. Just making sure we have the totalitarian viewpoint in mind.

Gut feeling that it is down to VT and UT. Hopefully the SEC turns out to be a factor.

Sounds like a popular opinion. The thing I want to know is the family visiting bama and maryland as well this week. One poster says yes while another says no.

His parents not accompanying him for the OV was very disappointing to the coaches. The parents haven't given UT the time of day. If, his parents do visit this week with him, it obviously helps, but they have wanted him at VT the entire time. As much as I want to be, I see no reason to be overly optimistic. JMO.

Thanks for your input... I hope you are wrong, but it looks like a parent (or parents) way of appeasing a son, so they can get him to go where they want.... JMO
