Arnett to transfer?

I disagree, but I don't disregard the opinion. May be some truth to it. I don't think he was ever thrilled with Knox.

I can see a lot of different scenarios. My kid and him talked a few times on campus. I know he missed things back home. But most kids who are away from home will miss things "back home". That is not unusual.

I have seen a lot of things on his twitter this season that lead me to think that he was glad to be a Vol, but that he missed things back home.

I think there were many things that went into this decision, but I think he still respects the UT program. I dont see him going anywhere and bashing this place.

I honestly think he got quite a bit of playing time for a true freshman. Guess its more to do with playing for a losing coach and team

He just realized he made the wrong decision for him when he committed to UT.

Hell, that happened to me a lot when I was 19.

I don't think so. More to do with Baggett leaving than anything else. He and his family were very close to him, and with him gone Arnett wants to go back home. Dooley met with Arnett, and his parents and that is the vibe he got is what is being said on VQ.

Makes sense, but if we were winning things might be more appealing for him to stay. Let's be honest, things don't look good for the near future

In the end, I agree with justin. I think the he is shooting himself in the foot. Not because I'm an orange homer.... transfers like this rarely turn out well for the athlete transferring. His pro chances are probably statistically much better if he stays in one place. I say probably because it is anecdotal. I wish him the best.

Tough to say. I think there will be a lot of excitement about next season. Kids commit more to coaches now than they do the school. It's just the nature of the beast now. I think this situation will come up more and more in the future. I think the NCAA needs to take another look at the hardship rule. I think more and more kids are trying to take advantage of it in order to get out of their LOI's.

Agree. Hubbs even pointed to this being one of the conclusions Dooley had after meeting with Arnett and then going to Michigan to meet with his family. If you are truly wanting to be close to your sick dad then you have Central Michigan to go to. Central Michigan has a good academic program, and it's not like NFL scouts are going to ignore if Arnett is an absolute stud there. So you still have NFL prospects, good academics, and are close to your dad. So why again does he not want to CMU if his dad is on his mind?

This. This. This....Arnett is bluffing and Dooley is calling him out on it. He's a lawyer folks, he knows how to negotiate and isn't going to get hustled. And he's not holding the kid hostage like people are making it out to be.

If Arnett wants to be on scholarship at UM or MSU then Dooley couldn't do anything to prevent it, the only thing he can do is cause Arnett to think twice about this decision by having him sit out for a year before transferring to either school. And it's not a "spiteful" decision. Dooley is protecting the integrity of the football program by not allowing UT to be a stepping stone to other big DI programs. Period. People on here act like Dooley doesn't want the kid to see his dying father, good grief.

Anyone remember that Vimeo video that he and his brother made of his recruiting process? I can't find it, but if I remember correctly, he said in the video that he didn't have a relationship with his dad.

If true thats makes it even more important for him to go back home.

You would think ESPN had more important things to cover. Makes me think Arnett or his family went to them.

Cool, now that we have the TMZ of sports involved. Release him to the MAC and have the PR people spin things in a direction that actually benefit the program.

at that point, you are correct, he did not. His brother was the father figure of the family. The relationship with his father has been much improved over the last year.

The videos were very funny though. The kid mocked the recruiting process, and mocked just about every school while doing it.

Let's say your offered a job in Florida because you have to move there for health reasons.

You get offered a job being paid 10 bucks in hour, but it's in Florida, as a waiter.

Another company in Florida wants to offer you a job making 75K, but it won't open for 6-9 months, so you have to wait in your current state.

Don't you just take the $10.00 per hour job since it's for your health and it gets you to Florida quicker?

Hypothetical scenarios are annoying. What's more annoying are hypothetical scenarios that seemingly, brutally go nowhere. What exactly are you inferring here? Arnett has health problems? Tennessee is paying him less than the school of choice in Michigan? Stop trying to sound intelligent, it gives all of us a headache.

I agree with you 100%.

I actually think that his best option from here is to go to CMU. It is just about the same distance from home as MSU. It is a smaller school, but academically very good. Football in the MAC is not the greatest, but there have been plenty of NFL receivers out of the MAC.

I hope the kid gets his life together. There are some issues that he needs to tend to and his dad it certainly a large part, but not all of it. He needs to get his head on straight. And as I said in a previous post, I know he reads message boards. I hope he takes this post to heart. (haha, assuming this is one of the boards he reads!!) Get yer shtuff together kid, there is a lot of good in life that you can do for yourself, your family, and many others that you have never even met.

Who would've thought that one of the schools he was mocking (CMU) might be where he ends up.

The main reason DA is leaving is because of his brother. His brother has been working behind the scenes with one particular school since CBB left. He will not be able to attend that school unless he pays his own way the first year. Im sure more will come out as time goes on.

His brother, was the main person pushing him to Tennessee last year.

I suspected this.

Wouldn't be surprising

I guess it really is all about his father. Check that , the brother he thinks of as his father.

He reads these boards? Cool, then he will see that some of us think he is a phoney and it's addition by subtraction with someone of his character leaving. Furthermore, regardless of where he goes, he has shown that he doesn't have leadership qualities by taking his toys and going home because things didn't go 100% his way. I hope he reads and digests every word that is said on here. Challenge yourself kid. And don't throw in some built in excuse as to why it didn't work out.

while this would not surprise me, I am very curious as to where you get this information.
