Arnett to transfer?

My apologies. And I agree, wouldn't want to live in Cookeville either.

:good!:

It has it's good and bad moments. Probably swings farther to the bad side more than I am used to. Grew up 10min. from Mich State. This is a little slow for me sometimes. I imagine I will end up in Knoxville or Nashville eventually. Depends on if my middle kid goes to college or direct to the music biz.

We like visiting Knoxville. Pretty good place, imo.

Yeah , it's pretty confusing. Thanks for the info Larry. I know it's an opinion , but it does make some sense on the possible chance that he isn't leaving. I still think he is gone. You feel the same? I hope he stays , but I'd like for him to want to be here.

I know someone he told last night he was leaving.. not that he can't change his mind but this person feels certain it is done from DA's side. This person has been talking to him since October to try and convince him to stay here. Dooley can always not release him and cause him to stay here or consider that..

Vols WR DeAnthony Arnett wants to be released to UM or MSU, says UT will release him to MAC schools

DeAnthony Arnett says "I want to play football but I NEED to be here for my Dad and with my family."

Well , hopefully this is him speaking. Once again , good luck to you DA and prayers to the family.

Let the young man go be with his father. It is the only right thing to do. Good luck to him and his family.

my guess (and only a guess, just because it would work and no one is mentioning it):

One year at Saginaw Valley St Univ. and then transfers to MSU.

Just a guess. Nothing to conjecture.

I'd love for him to stay , but if he wants to go I hope CDD doesn't stand in his way. Just no games this time. If you have talked about leaving , don't say that you didn't. And please , talk to the coaches. Don't let your Mom do it for you. I know it's a difficult time , but leave the right way.

This is much like the Bullock situation and his request to transfer. He needs to do what is best for his family. It's sad that his dad's health is so bad. Wish him and his family the best. Wish he would stay though.

He is leaving, and he has asked for his release. That means he has talked to the coaches. Unless there is more to the story than we are made aware of, I don't see CDD not releasing him.

DeAnthony Arnett says "I want to play football but I NEED to be here for my Dad and with my family."

From the sound of this, Derek Dooley is not questioning whether Arnett's father has some health issues. Rather, it seems like he questions the severity of each health issue.

Dooley will not stand in the way of Arnett transferring to be closer to his father, but he will not outright release him to play at Michigan or Michigan State because he had a change of heart halfway through the school year in his freshman year.

So , I'm sure he will be happy to transfer to Central Michigan or Eastern Michigan. :ermm:

If this is the case , he may just stay at Tennessee.

What GatorBill said is a possibility too. There are some pretty good D1AA and D2 schools in Michigan that he could go to for a year than transfer to MSU or UofM. If it's truly about his father which it seems to be he'll have no problem with that

Also, follow JoeSchad on twitter for updates seems like hes got the scoop on it

"A Tennessee spokesman said Arnett is not being denied the opportunity to be released and play FBS-level football

And that the school has a policy of not releasing players to schools UT plays or recruits against."

I'm sorry, but unless you are playing the school in the next 2 years, release the kid to whatever school he wants to go to and do not try and put terms on the release.

There is NO WAY that Dooley will look good at the end of this unless he gives him an unconditional release. You can't say to an 18 year old kid "look, sorry your Pops is sick with heart issues, but we'll let you go back home to play football under a few conditions.........."

That would be a PR disaster in recruiting. Amd aren't they recruiting against EVERY school??

Agreed. Lord knows UT can't afford to have any more PR hits.

Well, if this move is for his dear ole Dad, he should take this deal running. OF course, I have a feeling this is more of a copout by Arnett.

Regardless, imo, the Dad's health issues trump everything. It's not Dooley, UT athletics or anyone on this board's right to make that determination that it's a cop out.

You guys are throwing the baby out with the bathwater. The kid has EVERY right to make the decision where he plays if he goes back home to be closer to his dad.

You Florida jokers kill me. As if Urbie or Moosechump would handle this any other way. As if you know what a PR disaster consists of. I mean I'm guessing your family photo would be a PR disaster, but not this. Just a matter of a kid not honoring an agreement and learning a lesson the hard way.

I love when people talk out of their ass about things they don't know anything about.

This.

Dooley knows what's going on more than anyone on these forums. If he decides not to grant him a full release I will understand. This is about more than his father. Seems like he's using his father as a pawn. Hate to say it.

Guess you can't keep up very well. Dooley agreed to let him transfer to Central or Western Michigan. If it's really about his Dad shouldn't Arnett take Dooley up on this deal?

Face it the only thing you and your jort wearing brethern care about is Tennessee continuing to struggle. Nothing more.
