'12 JUCO DT Damien Jacobs (Florida signee)

It sounds like Florida is turning into an unstoppable juggernaut capable of defeating the Packers at Lambeau. Should the rest of the NCAA give up now?

I wouldn't go that far, but I do think the nation is about to see the best Florida teams it's ever witnessed.

Spurrier and Meyer did some good things, but they were ultimately soft. Neither went undefeated and each had their "kryptonite" (Spurrier's was FSU and Meyer's was the SEC West). The reality is that the world has never experienced a Florida squad that combines an elite stature with a physical, "punch you in the mouth for 60 minutes" style. The last time we were a physical team was 1984 but we didn't yet have the elite stature that we now have as a program. Since the 90's, we've had access to the elite talent, but we chose to go with speed and would rather run around people than run them over.

Muschamp is changing all of that. He is going to finally align the elite talent with the more fundamentally sound system. Foley knew this and that's why he chose to go with a Saban disciple - it was obvious what we needed after the 09 SEC title game. Now that we finally have shed the gimmick systems like the Fun'N'Gun and spread, we have a chance to become the more dominant programs of all time (think 2001 Miami).

Recruits see this and that's why they are buying in. Plus they know we are a media darling and will get full ESPN promotion as we embark on our run. The opportunity at UF is too good to pass up right now.

Losing this guy stung the most out of today, we really needed to keep him. Adding Jacobs & Sentimore w/ Couch would have took our DL to the next level. What really sucks is we had the most established relationship w/ him & his parents.

We really need to go all in on McCullers now.

No offense to the Gator poster but UF is a long way from being unstoppable. No matter who they bring in for this class it will never compare to who they brought the last few years under Meyer and it was stilll not enough in the end. UF is still probably a few years to getting back near where they may once have been but they will never be unstoppable in the SEC. Someone needs to take off their glasses and look around. But it was a funny read if nothing else.

Remember this was the same team that was pushing Brantly for Heisman saying he was the next great QB at UF. It seems every year is the next now for UF. I guess we will see.

Our situation with McCullers doesn't look that bad, at all. With Bama having him wait and hold off on anything, time could favor us there.

And you can tell this from 1 year with a 6-6 coach? Florida did have a "punch you in the mouth for 60 minutes" style this year, it was just Bama and LSU doing it to them.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I watched Florida this year.

In regards to Jacobs I am not sure why UT fans are that upset. To be honest I think the real bonus of having Jacobs commited was to have Autry also. I doubt there is many fans on here that would pick Jacobs over Autry if only one could sign. Most people were hoping it would help land Autry.

For the record it just shows you that IF is no better off than UT right now even though they like to think different. Not really sure what season they were watching this year. Jacobs was not getting recruited by UA, LSU, Ark, or really any of the heavy hitters in the SEC. UF going after him just shows how desperate CWM is right now to get his defense to be competative with what ever help they can get. Nothing more.

Yeah, what's actually interesting about that is it's right on schedule relative to the "Saban Model." Alabama was 6-6 their first year (losing to La-Monroe, mind you) and needed to win their bowl game against Colorado to finish with a winning record. We're 6-6 and need to beat Ohio St to finish 7-6.

But more notable is the fact that we managed to have a top 10 defense despite a complete meltdown on offense and continually being put in bad positions. That should tell you how scary our D will be when we're firing on all cylinders. We're going to be like Alabama on crack.

I feel like we're right on schedule. Look for us to go roughly 12-2 next year before we officially start our run in 2013.

What 2 teams will you lose to?

Stop it Chas. Just stop. We've made the same comparisons. They're ridiculous and a waste of time. Muschamp isn't Saban. He isn't even close.

lmao @ 12-2. Dude, and I thought our fans were delusional.

I need some of what you are smoking. First CWM is a brand new HC. CNS already won a NC at LSU and coached in the NFL. CWM long time assistant coach. Second lets compare the recruiting classes that Meyer brought in for CWM that barely won 6 games with to what Saban had with what Shula had left. Not to mention Saban came in to UA with the team recruiting with less scholarships because of NCAA trouble.

You are a complete fool if you actually are trying to compare apples and oranges. UF's program was loaded with top notch talent that Meyer how stocked the shelves with. UA had 2 and 3 stars with a few higher here and there.

With who at QB????

Sure, and Dooley and the VOls are going to be 14-0 next year......

Saw this on VQ. Jacobs has apparently posted some stuff on his facebook about UT fans talking smack about him on message boards. I wondered how long we could keep our idiot fans from harassing him.

His choice is more funny than anything. He would have started at UT or MSU. This is more headscratching and stupid than anything else.

Oh, and I hope Tiny flattens him to a pulp next year.
