Pretty much. I think Hat likes to measure success in black and white. Y'know, wins and losses, bottom line of the balance sheet, etc. I think things are a little more gray than that.

You're missing his point. He is aptly pointing out that by using record sales as the sole metric, Celene Dion is spanking everybody.

FYI - I love SRV - I think he was a better guitar player than Clapton.

When I saw Stevie Ray in Knoxville he was sick and it was unsure if he would play - but he showed up and was smmmmookin'! Last time I saw Clapton he came out on stage and said 'we're gonna play 9 or 10 tracks from our new CD (Pilgrim) then play some of the older stuff." WTF? You could hear the crowd talking through the first bunch of songs....

We're talking about "live" shows. When I go, I want to see guitars, drums, bass, and other musicians. I don't want to see Jay-Z or Britney jumping around the stage with pre-recorded, non-musical sounds that teeny boppers and teen thugs go to be idiots. I can see Hat now, dressed up like Kip from Napolean Dynamite, at Jay-Z's next concert. "Wuzz up Z!! You da man!!!"

I mean all he had to do was drink a coke...beforehand and it probably cleared his head right up

I saw Clapton live a few years ago at Phillips Arena, and wasn't overly impressed. On the other hand, I've also seen Elton John live, and while I'm not a big fan of his music, Elton has a hell of work ethic when it comes to live performances. He went two-hours+ with no breaks, took a 10 minute break, and then played another hour and a half.

Clapton, on the other hand, left the stage for good after a cool hour and 50 minutes.

Doesn't surprise me. Elton John may be light in his loafers but he has a good work ethic. Clapton seems to be all about the money (as evidenced by him pimping out that lousy Pilgrim albumn ad nauseum) I understand tours are generally to promote albumns, but jeez louise..

I saw Elton John at Starwood Amp in the mid 80's and he wore a head to toe, pink wig. His show was spectacular. I went to see the Eagles with my parents a couple of years ago and I didn't know how good of musicians they were. I left impressed. Another one that impressed me was Prince. He gives you your money's worth. Of course, Pink Floyd puts all of their effort into tours, the one I saw was in 1994, and it was a wowser. I'm more into jam bands than most, and I've seen great and horrible shows.

I saw "The Band" in Knoxville and spoke with Robbie Robertson for a few minutes. They were incredible.
