Defending Fulmer

Monte can stop all college offenses as long as they don't run the spread.

We pretty much stonewalled Bama and UGA that year but got rolled by Ole Miss, Memphis and Auburn's offenses.

However Chief has the same problem.

Houston Nutt is evidently a big time spread offense guy. Right... I guess Urban Meyer must have started running a pro set, too.

We got stomped by teams with really good speed that spread out the field because our linebackers weren't any good, especially late in the season when we lost Reveiz, King, and Thompson.

2-1 record in those games. At least there are some wins. Kiffin supporters have to point to close loses to give him any credit.

Want to compare the 2008 and 2009 South Carolina games? Georgia works too.

I'd point out that one year they were road games and the next they were at home, but that would make sense and there's no room for that in this thread.

Clearly that's what accounted for us switching the roles of pitcher and catcher. Crompton was really on fire when he played in Neyland in 2008.

Or, you could simply acknowledge the fact that CPF is washed up, and that it was his time to go.

Home field is responsible for a 40-point swing? That sure does make sense, buddy.

So on the road, Kiffin should have lost to Bama by 60?

Almost assuredly. Good thing we caught Bama at home this past season, or we might have really gotten walloped.

Ron Zook must be a pretty awesome coach. Dude was batting 1.000 at Neyland. Why'd he leave Florida, anyway? I guess an NFL team hired him.

I've acknowledged that mulitple times in this thread. But don't let facts get in your way.

Heres a fact : Unless you are old enough to have lived and watched the Big Orange when Gen. Neyland coached, CPF is the absolute, without a doubt, cant be denied the BEST, BEST, BEST Head Coach at the University of Tennessee in your lifetime. It cannot be denied. And until Dooley, Lane Kiffin, Porter Wagoner or your next door neighbor wins 75% of their games, (2) SEC titles, and a National Championship, none, REPEAT, none of you Fulmer haters have a leg to stand on. It cannot be argued.

I was thinking more like Memphis 96, Arkansas 99, LSU 2001, Maryland 2002, Vandy 2005, Cal 2007, UCLA 2008 etc etc.

Kiffin had that many last year alone.

Took 12 years to come up with that list.

Kiffin, btw, had as talented a team as anybody last year too.

Game, Set, and Match.

They can argue.

But they will always lose. :)

The list isn't complete. And the USC team underachieved, but they aren't half as talented as everyone pretends, otherwise they'd have done a lot better with Carroll in 2009.

Tell me about the defensive talent at SC, then let me know about the RBs and WRs. Be interesting.

Come back when CPF gets another job.

I don't care if he ever gets another job, he brought Tennessee a NC that I was able to see and enjoy in my lifetime

soryy that as a USuCky fan, you'll never experience it

That's all well and good, but it doesn't change the fact that he took your school from the pinnacle of college football and drove it into the ground. That's the message I am trying to get across. You are struggling with it, much like gibbs and Vegas.

No, Mike Hamilton did not lose the Wyoming game.

No, CPF would not have won the East in 09.

It was time for him to go. Really, he should have been let go before 09. If he really cared for UT the way he says he does, he would have stepped down before the 08 season.

Best to have reached the pinnacle and fall, vs to have not reached it. Kiffin hasn't and no south Carolina fb team has reached it. Period.

Then if CPF is as good as you Fulmerites claim, he would have no problem taking South Carolina to the pinnacle.

We must have had, if Fulmer was the one who ran it into the ground. It had been 47 years since we won a NC and CPF did it with his recruits. You haters think losing to Wyoming defined the mans career. Thats all you have is one freakin game the Saturday after Hamilton told CPF he was out. And I will never understand how anyone , by God anyone, could ever defend Lane Kiffin one iota on here.

Yeah, I'm a Fulmerite. I didn't want him gone after '05 or anything. What a jackwagon. I'm just trying to teach you something, son. If you don't want to read it, feel free to stop visiting.

There's an entire decade of nothingness in Phil's career.

Phil inherited a team that had won 2 SEC Championships in the past few years prior to his ascension. He left behind a team on par or worse than South Carolina.

One freakin' game? Where were you from 2002 to 2008?
