09 CA S Byron Moore - UT Commit

we've been on maggitt for awhile. our staff has convinced him it would probably be his jr before he sees the field at de, hes warmed up to playing lb tho.

i thought lb was a much more fun position to play than de..de is ok, but the freedom and the ability to get running starts and reads from the defensive backfield is great. thought lb would be easy to sell. a switch from de to dt, like Jackson this year would seem a lot more difficult.

It can go either way. Just depends on what type of player you are. I was the complete opposite. Loved DE and thought LB was ok. I played DE in the 4-3 in high school from my freshmen to junior years. Loved it. Our coaches for some reason switched our defense to a 3-5 for my senior year. So I ended up playing OLB in the 3-5 my senior year. Was fun because I still mainly rushed the passer, but it wasn't as fun as DE. Still playing LB/S now and it just is not as much fun as DE was for me. Guess that's what you get when you are undersized. Oh well, not important on a UT board.

Anyway I think it just depends on the player and the defense. If Maggit prefers to have his hand on the ground he might like DE more than OLB. If he likes being able to read and react to plays and is willing to try some pass coverage than OLB would be managable. It all depends. The position players are offered to play in college can be important to some recruits. Look at JWJ for example. One main reason he is going to FSU is because they promised him a chance at RB. Some players don't care what position they play and can do it all. I'm sure Malik Jackson prefers end, but if DT can help the team and still get him to the NFL I'm sure he is all for it. But I am not a coach at all so I wouldn't know. JMO. Dooley will know exactly what position his players should be at by next fall.

As this is only my second recruiting where I obsess over updates I don't have a lot of comparison but it has been chock full or more good news and reports than I ever expected. Especially the way many were shatting on how DD would do. Amped to see where it all settles out.

Perceptions on how recruiting Is going doesn't mean shat until NSD. That goes for the early hisses and recent cheers. I think us landing everyone who is currently committed and using these last spots well are all that matter- the emotional "he's doing work!" and "look who we are in on!" stuff is worthless without results. But I think we are going to get those results.

I agree with your whole post. Early in the year the negaVols were saying they would be happy with a full class. Staff has far exceeded their expectations. This class has come a long way since Andrew Power.

Yeah 247 is insistent he committed. He probably did and he's just trying to keep people interested for a few more days. I dont think some random no name kicker is going to make up info about Moore telling him he is a Cane.

Did anyone see the post on the canes site talking about a twitter conversation he had with one of them? It was basically him talking about the SEC is the best and why would you play anywhere else. If I find it again, I'll post it
