Typical southern trash. Telling someone to go join PETA just because they're from the west coast.
(Not that I think that there's such a thing as "typical southern trash", but if we're going to be broad and generalize and use bias, why not?)
Pac 10 football is terrible.
Ucla and cal couldn't hang with an elite .500 (last 2 seasons) SEC school like tennessee.
Oregon wants no part of neyland stadium. They've heard too many stories from folks in wyoming.

UT football started in 1891. Oregon football started in 1893.
Oregon does have a long history that Duck fans are proud of. You probably know as little about it as Duck fans tend to know about the history of UT.
This apparently may come as a shock to some. But, when you were watching UT win some past accolade, most of the rest of the country was probably watching Cosby Show re-runs. It's great to watch your team do well. Enjoy it when it happens and savor the memory. Just don't adopt the illusion that anyone else cares so much that they get less out of following their own team.
Yeah, that top ten team Cal did real well in Neyland. UCLA? Please, they just steamrolled UT. Wyoming, in a losing year anyway, even Vandy beat UT in Neyland in a losing year. If you're going to have a terrible year anyway you might as well get those games out of your system. Better that way than like Memphis in '97.
Say, you all do have a couple three championships since Florida began their football program in 1990. Congrats. How many undefeated seasons do you have? Yeah, something Florida will never do. If you haven't yet with your coaches and talented players, face it, you never will. Never has there been a season where Florida was the best team on the field each game.
It really makes sense that you guys are basing your predictions for a Tennessee win on the fact that we play in the Pac-10, the fact that Tennessee has more tradition, and Justin Wilcox.
When someone wants to talk matchups and stuff happening on the field, talk to me.
UT is at a historic low point and you're over here needling us about how your fluorescent fowl are going to beat us at home. You should expect the conference and tradition insults.
Ut as a program is just having some turbulence. The UT fanbase ,however , is in fact at a historic low of epic proportions. Not sure you can pull out of this nose dive.
No, I'd expect someone to dispute what I'm saying with a logical explanation.
Not too long ago in Neyland, coming off a season worse than 2009 we destroyed a Cal team coming off a good season that would go on to tie for the Pac-10 title. If UT gets a couple big plays early, Neyland gets loud, and a relatively inexperienced QB gets rattled, we can hang on to win.
Well, at least there was a smidge of logic in that. There's no reason to compare Oregon and '06 Cal. Completely different teams. You also fail to recognize that while '09 for Tennessee was better than '05, the 2006 Vols returned much more depth and talent than the 2010 team is returning.
DuckinTN...
Ill try to give you some logic here. Bare with me. Reasons why I think TN will hang with Oregon and PERHAPS put ourselves into a position to win the game are...
1. We know you have a strong running game. Even in these down years we have fielded a strong defense. This year we have a talent and depth everywhere on defense with the exception of the DT. Oregon's running is not a downhill running attack. The Ducks are more of a toss sweep, stretch play, off tackle kind of team. We are strong at DE and LB. Our lateral speed across the field will help us slow LaMichael and company down a little.
2. You have 1 big play maker returning at WR returning and nothing else. We were excellent against the pass last year and that was with us using our All-World safety as an extra linebacker. I think your passing game will hit some big plays but will not be consistent enough down the stretch of the game. With the lack of experience at WR and a QB that doesn't have too much, not zip, but minimal experience, your passing game will also feel a lot of heat from our talent and depth at DE. I believe DE is one of our strongest areas in 2010.
As for offensively, there are a lot more questions on our part but there are still some points that I want to hit on.
3. From numerous articles that I have read (including the one that I used to start this thread), the Duck defense needs a little help. I am not saying you guess are horrible on defense but there are some question marks. Unless I am mistaken, you guys had trouble defending the pass last year. We are LOADED at WR. We have talent, depth, and experience at that position. Our question mark there is can we find a QB to get the ball to them. Matt Simms has seemed to step up but we wont know until the season actually starts.
4. We have a stable of RB's just as you do. No worry there for me. Just as everyone else, my big concern for us is the OL. Now I have a little faith here because... Even though we have 5 new starters the coaches have said the this years line is more talented than last year. We had 3 former walk-ons playing on our line last year. This years squad just lacks experience. With our down hill running style, if our line gels quickly, I think we can take advantage of your lighter, faster defensive front and get a good surge.
5. Special teams. They have to be special. Our special teams were abysmal last year. With the additions of the #1 kicker and the #1 punter in the nation they should improve. They should improve even more because Coach Dooley really takes a hands on approach to the special teams. We have some guys that we really look forward to returning kicks and punts as well.
I am sure that you have a breakdown of strengths and weaknesses just as I do, this are just the reasons that I think we can be more that just competitive in this game.
