Just got back from FL last night, I was in Daytona and Orlando all weekend (couldn't go to the game) but I was cussed at on the golf course a couple times for wearing my TN hat. I had more snide remarks (with northern accents) made towards me and my wife than I have ever heard mostly after the game.

FL fan = Trash in my book they have surpassed the Bammers.

Dude, I'm sorry to hear that. There are no excuses for any of this. If it makes you feel any better, I'd have bought you and your lovely wife a beer before joking about our rivalry. There are a few of us out there that are respectful.

while this sucks and should never happen, it does....not so sure why an article was written about this (even if it was her son). stuff like this unfortunately happens every year everywhere. uga fans are notorious for sucker punching people in jacksonville after they lose everywhere. my buddy got busted up pretty good two years ago minding his own business

The article were the words of a mother concerned about her son's safety. That's why it was written.

Doesn't surprise me at all. When I went down there for a game several years ago, we ran into multiple Gators who were very aggressive, in my face, clearly looking for a fight. If I hadn't been vastly outnumbered and decided to keep on walking, I would have been in several fights.

This is why I haven't been back and don't expect to return. These people are despicable Jersey trash.

Nope. When I was going to BYU, I decided to never go to the Utah game cause I knew I would probably end up in a fight. They're way worse than anybody I've seen in the SEC. I'd still be hesitant to go to Florida. I don't think I would fight, but I probably wouldn't enjoy myself.

It all depends on how you take the heckling. I walk around Gainesville all the time in my UT gear and get yelled out. I just give them a "F You!" right back or tell them their coach is a panzy.

I actually commented to my wife as we were walking around campus just before kickoff that I was surprised at the fact that nobody had said anything to us.

Just after that a girl said " Ewwww, a Tennessee fan" and I proceeded to drunkenly yell at the top of my lungs right in her face while surrounded by a crowd of UF fans.

Most Gator fans aren't that hostile and even if they do say something they will back down when you yell back at them. I'm also a pretty big guy, so that might deter people.

The only way I can see this story happen is as it was described. UF fans won't challenge you much out in the open but it does sound like some of the frat boys to attack you in a parking lot.

Excuse me?...Who the hell are you?...You do not know me AT ALL and have ZERO right to group me in with a bunch of classless losers like yourself and your brethern...I can personally say I have never attacked another fan at a game or vandalized personal property EVER so next time you go accussing people of things get your story straight.

May have something to do with "Die Gators Die"...

This was my experience leaving Neyland in 1998. I just said nothing, kept my eyes forward and kept moving.

It happens everywhere.

It was written because UF is by far the most vile place to go for a football game. Just ask anyone from any SEC school. They will tell you right off that there is no worse place for an opposing fan to attend a football game!

As for other places being the same, you obviously did not look at all the nice comments about our hospitality from UCLA fans on this board last week.

Florida fans suck and are the most in the SEC; they make their stadium the worst place to attend a game!:realmad:

Does that make your momma proud? Cussing women? Sounds like you need to be a gator fan.

Not that surprised to hear this. Also I dont really consider florida when talking about southern hospitality. most are them are from up north or immigrants(nothing wrong with that, i am just making a point)

Most of the Gator are pretty hospitable. I am as critical as the arrogant, idiot Gator fans as anybody but that's really just a small segment of immature frat boys and toothless rednecks.

Most of the UF alums willll invite you over to their tent to have a burger or a beer and you can always find fans who enjoy talking to visiting fans and creating a good atmosphere.

I hear people judge Gator fans based on horror stories from the UGA game in Jacksonville and that is a little unfair. Most of the fans that attend that game are very young and drunk and both sides have their equal amounts of a-holes at that game. You can't expect the World's Largest Cocktail Party to not be rowdy!

The only thing I truly hate about Gator games in Gainesville is the tendency to throw things like urine or bottles. Insults should be expected when travelling in the SEC but nobody should have to put up with having ANYTHING thrown at them, much less urine!

That is a terrible story, and one I can some what relate to, though never sucker punched. My friends and I (who all just graduated this past December) took in the Florida game 2 years (yes, the 59-20 whooping) and we decided to go to the game, but just take in the atmosphere and go to a local bar instead of paying an insane amount for tickets (which $8 shots of Jack Daniels's because it's a TENNESSEE whiskey is a different story). So, the 7 of us go to a bar well before the game to start taking it all in, and from the get go a few generic "Go Vols", "Go Gators" words are tossed around in good fun. Well, as the game progresses and the gator fans begin to enjoy their adult beverages a little more and more with each TD (which I will take to the grave that UT fans can outdrink UF fans any day because UF fans puke more than any I've ever seen) and we start to notice that everyone in the bar starts to turn on us a little. After the game comes to an end, the gator fans that had been hazing us had one too many to drink and felt the need to display their displeasure with us by throwing their empty beer bottles at us in the bar. Well, this nice gentleman who had been sitting besides us all day in his Danny Wuerful jersey finally stands up . . . come to find out he is an undercover cop. Luckily for us, he was on our side and had seen the whole day develop. After one of my friends got hit in the head with a bottle, it got ugly really fast. The undercover cop and a couple of his Gator friends took up for us and escorted us out and put 4 drunk retards in handcuffs. Needless to say the bottle throwing tards got theirs, but I thought it was a nice to see the undercover cop and his buddies on our side.

LOL... What can you expect from gator fans. Most of them come from the middle of the state in trailers cooking CRACK, the others are grads who could not make it in any other school! Florida is one of the biggest white trash states in the USA.

Of course I am sure it was many on 1. Florida fans are whips and cowards!!

There are people like this everywhere.

That is their MO. Gotta friend who is a UK fan and he dreads this weekend. He know they will get beat on the field and they wil have to listen to the verbal abuse from the fans. They won't shut up until we start kicking butt on the field. Then they will lose interest and stop traveling period.

I went to a game back in I think 2001. There was twelve of us UT fans sitting in one of the endzones. We had cups of piss, dip spit, and constant cussing. Two of the guys that went with us went to jail for fighting over the spit cup and piss landing on them.

I was also at the UT Memphis game in memphis 3-4 years ago. For some reason a drunk Gator was there to watch the game. He started cussing an entire section like an idiot. He called one guys wife a whore. That is when the fight started. The last i saw of him, his face was covered in blood as the cops were dragging him down the stairs. We tossed his hat down after him.

I know older UT fans can't stand bama, but I am in my early 30's and I don't think there is a fan base out there with less class than the Florida Gators.

The last time I checked, yelling "Whoo!" at the top of your lungs while packed in around hundreds of Gator fans doesn't exactly amount to cussing women.

I would knock somebody out if they cussed at my wife so why the hell would I do that to the Gator girl?

But don't expect that if anybody, male or female, opens their mouth and tries to insult my team that I won't have some kind of response.

I could have talked about her jorts or her boyfriend's raggedy jersey but I kept it to a spirited cheer.

Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to assume things.

I haven't enjoyed the weather much in Roanoke. It got cold early and now we are starting to get rain. I want the heat and sun back.

I asked because I hated the weather up there. Something about it, ugh. I'll take a day in Chattanooga any day of the week.
