Gator Fans Sucker Punch UT Fan!

At some point it's not a stereotype it's a trend.

At some point, it's time to accept that all teams have idiot fans (except UT) and only attend games in your home stadium. I hate ignorant fan behavior from any side. But to generalize about EVERY single fan of a particular team only ignites more of this type of behavior. I applaud the actions of those coming to the aid of the assaulted UT fan. No one deserves that treatment, ever ! So, therefore the idiots claiming that all UF fans act that way didn't even read/comprehend the entire story.

There are a small number of “Butt” holes everywhere. (happy LIO) :)

With that said, the folks who posted generally had a positive experience. It makes me consider going down the next time we play them down there.

Why does everybody think Gator fans are northerners? There are more southerners, hispanics and Asians than there are northerners.

UF is mostly attended by the rich in-state kids whose parents live in Central or South Florida. Some of these kids have families who moved down from New York and other northern states but there are just as many whose families are from Central or South America and Asian Countries.

Just as many others are as definitely southern as Tennesseeans. There are just as many hardcore southerners in FL as there are in the rest of the South. However, with the huge population and warm climate FL attracts a lot of people that other southern states don't.

North Florida is no less southern than most any area of TN.

I'm going to try and make it down next time as well. Let me know, and I'll invite you over to my tailgate.

While it is true that every fan base has them, the Gator fan base shares the top spot in the SEC for the amount of them.

The further south you go in Florida, the less southern it gets.

The last time I checked, yelling "Whoo!" at the top of your lungs while packed in around hundreds of Gator fans doesn't exactly amount to cussing women.

I would knock somebody out if they cussed at my wife so why the hell would I do that to the Gator girl?

But don't expect that if anybody, male or female, opens their mouth and tries to insult my team that I won't have some kind of response.

I could have talked about her jorts or her boyfriend's raggedy jersey but I kept it to a spirited cheer.

Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to assume things.

Your right, I apologize. That is not what I envisioned from your previous post.:hi:

This was my experience leaving Neyland in 1998. I just said nothing, kept my eyes forward and kept moving.

It happens everywhere.

I don't believe you. I can't count the number of games I've attended in Knoxville and never seen anything like that. I'm the Knoxville version of Two Bits. I didn't see it, so it didn't happen.

And this is how most physical confrontations get started.

She didn't want no part of me! :eek:lol:

Seriously though, I have never had so many tiny little 5'3 100 pound girls put their shoulders into me while walking by them.

One girl almost fell on the sidewalk when she went out of her way to bump into me! I went to help her up and my wife joked that she wouldn't have been so gracious.

Most of the Gator fans are all talk and I've lived here for years so I'm not worried about getting in a fight. We know the places to avoid to keep from getting into it with the really rowdy fans.

If you stick to University Ave between 13th St/441 and the Stadium then you shouldn't have any problems.

Maybe a few taunts but there are cops everywhere just waiting for something to happen.

Interesting, multiple independent poll results indicated that the Vol fan base shares the top spot in the nation, BCS, and the SEC for numbers of "them".

No worries, man. My statement was a little unclear. That would be pretty classless and hypocritical if I had done something like that.

My wife is pregnant and I almost didn't want to walk around on campus for the game but she convinced me to. I just knew that a Gator fan would bump her or do something stupid that would cause me to go to jail but everything was fine.

Her big belly might have had something to do with why we didn't get heckled more.

I'm not surprised at all. I was at the 2004 UT/UF game and the night before the game I got in town and went down to the strip with a buddy to go get some food over at the Krystal and while waiting in line there were some UF fans ahead of us. One of them was pretty obnoxious and kept trying to pick a fight with me, now I chose to leave it alone because mainly I didn't want to get arrested the night before the game and miss it. That kind of attitude is what I associate with UF fans though I am aware that the majority of their fans are not anything like that. I'd like to see all of the fans in the SEC make an effort to be good sports because there is no reason we can't go to each other's stadiums and enjoy the game.

What poll is this? Everything I've heard from OOC fans is how amazingly hospitable UT fans are. I can remember making friends with visiting fans sitting in our section almost every year. You would have 20 or 30 UT fans all talking to a small group of visiting fans about their trip and telling them the places they had to visit.
Neyland is known for our hospitable elderly crowd but it does take away from the loudness/crazyness of the stadium.

Even other SEC fans brag about trips to Neyland and how nice UT fans are. I've always heard that UF and LSU have the rowdiest/nastiest fans in the SEC and maybe the country.

I've heard that UGA fans can be bad too.

I give visitors of Neyland a lil' bit of hell, (which usually turns into drinking buddies) but this is a little too much.
