Looking Past The Upcoming Beatdown...

I've been watching UT football for over 30 years, and I'm pretty sure that this is the first game in that entire span that I have felt like we had almost literally zero chance to win. If they played this game 100 times, UF would win 98 or 99 of them. No QB + no OL = no credible passing threat = no running game = a ton of 3 and outs = an exhausted defense = asskicking.

I'm confident that our guys aren't going to quit, though. That's not acceptable anymore. It'll be worth watching the 4th quarter no matter how bad it is just to see evidence of how much the culture has changed.
Tennessee had no shot against Alabama and Pitt in '80. No chance at UGA and USC in '81. LSU, Auburn, and Washington State were unwinnable in '88. Miami would have beaten us 100 times out of 100 in '02. No shot against Florida in '94. No chance against Florida in '07 and '08. That's all the hopeless games I can remember. None have been a bigger lost cause than Saturday.

Hat calls it the upcoming beat down and no one squawks. I say something along those lines and Im a traitor.

He called it a beatdown and left it at that.

You called it a beatdown, and then moaned about how embarrassed you were by those in the fanbase who're delusional enough to pick the upset.

Hammer Ohio.
Squeak by Auburn.
Lose a low scoring, hideous game to UGA.

The Auburn game may very well end up being the deciding factor for how this season turns out. If we lose that, it could get ugly again.

I haven't seen too much of Auburn this year (just the box scores really), but they have appeared impressive (meaning they won by margins they should have).

What do you think gives Tennessee the advantage it this game? Coaching? Home Field advantage?

He played the UGA game in '07 with an injured shoulder from running the ball 20-something times against KY the week before.

Crompton. Stephens has failed to impress three separate OCs. That speaks volumes.

That's how I view Stephens - he's not a highly-ranked freshman waiting for his chance. He's junior who couldn't beat Crompton out for the job.

The only advantage Auburn will have in this game is we will be playing 10 against 12 on offense

If we dont come back and destroy Ohio after the UF game then the mental state of this team will be in jeopardy for the rest of the year. A lackluster performance against Ohio even if it's a win will give us NO confidence heading into the rest of the SEC schedule.

Assuming (which with our qb situation is probably not smart) we beat Ohio. If we can get a win against AU with Crompton having at least decent showings in both games. I think georgia can be had. But...

Kiff has emphasized the importance of turnovers since the day he arrived at UT

Maybe Crompton just hasn't understood he was talking about the other team turning it over, not the QB

Does 7-6 or 8-5 (with a meaningless bowl win) sound about right to you?

I haven't seen Auburn yet...just their final scores...are they any better or are they a by-product of their schedule so far?

Auburn's no better than they were last year. If we don't handle them, four wins sounds about right. I'm sticking to my prediction of 7 or 8 wins.

Amazing!!! I would never want to go into a fight with any of you guys, he!! why even play the game?

We bit*hed about the team quiting in the past, not caring, not having any heart and here are the fans quiting before the coin toss. I see where the team got it from over the past few years!

If he could tell the truth, I would love to know Lane's thoughts on the players Fulmer left him at O-line and QB.

It also appeared in his press conference he was very close to calling out some fans about booing.

If the team's source for having heart is the fans they've already lost.

Crap, and to think I blamed Fulmer. I owe Phil an apology.
