Chaz Coleman's future remains uncertain (CBS)

I’m sorry, why are you lecturing us?

Uh, is he REALLY doing a card shuffle with a huge stack of Benjamins? If he is, at what point does the staff say ENOUGH? I, am tired of hearing about this poor little boo-boo and his attachment to his momma. Send his sorry ass HOME, and get the money back while you are at it. Sheesh.

I get where you are coming from in a sense.

This is someone who is being paid MILLIONS of dollars whether they play or not, it's a f'n scam. I have zero sympathy.
I completely agree. If he doesn’t play, he should be forced to payback all the $$ that he has received. Because he is a Vol (for now), I’m trying to give him the benefit of the doubt .

I hope he plays and does well but that post is stupid. He’s a stupid immature idiot regardless of his medical status. This crap is making it hard to support financially. I have 8 season tickets but this path with mediocre results will have me staying at home sooner than later. I am getting older anyway.

If this dude doesnt get his crap together and get to team activities (you can go thru summer workouts even if you cannot participate in some parts physically) he might get jacked up by teammates when he does finally show up like Boo did last year. Dude is said to have been paid $1M-2M for this season. He has a responsibility to the team, the Dline room, and Coaches.

If he doesnt play this year and we have to cut him loose, he definitely wont get a big money contract next year with 1 career Sack and very little college tape at all...some school will take a flyer on him for $200k or something just because he was a 5* and at that price he is worth it even as a long shot. Who would have any respect for kid that basically stole a lucrative contract and never worked at all for it? The Jordan Ross situation sucks because we paid him big money for 2years to not play much at all while he developed...then when he is set to really perform LSU stole him and will get his best year or years. Same thing happened with Ricky Gibson and Boo Carter.

This is why UT and other teams are not putting as much resources into HS kids right now...paying millions to kids for them not to play is bad business. Better off grabbing guys from the portal who have already produced at the FBS level. They can come in and play right away at a high level. We still need HS kids...but not the way we did before. Nobody can stockpile talent in the 2deep and 3deep anymore. Nobody.

At this point I’m not counting on him contributing much, if anything, this fall. Do we need a new GM? I’m beginning to wonder if we’re allocating the wrong amount of money to the wrong guys. Pretty sure this kid was our highest profile transfer prospect and he got something like 3 million in an NIL deal based almost entirely on potential.

School or coaches can’t say a thing if it’s a medical issue because of HIPAA violations. Perhaps that’s why we’re not really hearing much other than coach Speak.
This is incorrect. HIPAA deals only with Health Care providers and those responsible for transmitting protected health care information. Lay people and employers are not held accountable under their auspices. While ethics would require judicious use or disclosure of that information it is definitely not covered under HIPAA.

We have a GM? Maybe I live under a rock, but who is it?

Gotta say....if UT is giving the money up front and not in installments or without legally binding contracts, they're idiots and they deserve humiliation and derision.

Thanks. Hadn't seen that. I'll be curious to see how this "deal" with Coleman was structured and how our GM deals with this now and going forward. I'm hoping he didn't expose us to having a kid and his family bleed us and we get zero in return with no recourse. If so, I'd consider that grounds for termination.

It's FERPA for coaches. They can't disclose info about the student's "school records" and whatever the team physician, etc has diagnosed is considered a "school record" I believe.

Yeah I have no idea how involved he is with the deals directly. It might be a combination of him and the staff together, not 100% sure. But with this new format I would think you need a good GM like a pro team has who is directly responsible for stuff like this.
