A bunch of mid players mostly. Certainly not a roster on paper you’d expect to win it all. I’d say the ability to handle a team like OSU has a LOT to do with their S&C. There’s little doubt this was a problem the last couple of years. Will we see enough of a difference in one year? We better. He personally did?
I think Indiana used the transfer portal wisely and recruited a roster of experienced players.
That plus increase in NIL funds helps.

Yeah didnt many of those players follow Cignetti over from Tulane? That Indiana roster, on paper, should've been playing in the Alamo Bowl. Not playing for a national championship.A bunch of mid players mostly. Certainly not a roster on paper you’d expect to win it all. James Madison, but yes. The entire college football world has been trying to explain away Indiana’s championship. Heupel pulled a coup getting their guy. I just hope it’s soon enough. It’s pretty obvious by these gains that we were way off where we should have been. Hopefully, that continues over the summer.Yeah didnt many of those players follow Cignetti over from Tulane? Yes, James Madison. Thank you! I'm not sure where I got Tulane from.James Madison, but yes. The entire college football world has been trying to explain away Indiana’s championship. It has more to do with just in game performance. I think Indiana had one of the lowest injury rates and played ferwer players than almost anyone.
This is a hillarious take, as few would find me a Koolaid drinker. I think we can make a major improvement and still struggle just due to the schedule. We also have an incredibly young roster. Indiana didn’t play this schedule and was able to build up to a few games. If we win 7 games or fewer, this fan base is going to demand a change. Fair or not, it’s year 6 and you can’t be going backwards.I hope a new S&C coach is the magical fix you believe it will be.
Not being negative, but there's a reason Tennessee is projected to win 6.5 games this season.
S&C is not the primary reason for that either.

100%. I’ve even said that exact thing on this forum. It’s why I think Heupel should be fired if we win 7 games or less this year.In this era, an incredibly young roster is a choice, not an excuse.

However. It’s the roster we have, and the question was whether the S&C coach could improve it from a year ago. I think he will, but with the 9 game conference schedule it may not matter.
Strength and conditioning is just a piece of the puzzle. There’s no guarantee that we’ll have the discipline and coordination that Indiana used to go undefeated. Cignetti is a very rare coach for sure.I hope a new S&C coach is the magical fix you believe it will be.

We pretty much align on this.Tennessee is spending money on NIL. I think Heupel and staff are not using it correctly.
Just poor roster management.
I thought Heupel might be the guy after 2-3 seasons here, but I think his time at Tennessee is coming to an end.
How long will boosters be okay with spending money on QBs that sit on the bench and players like Chaz and Boo?
I think the S&C issue is just a surface look into a deeper issue behind the scenes.
Who knows, maybe Heupel comes out and wins 3 Natties over the next 5 years.
I think we’ll see a massive improvement on defense as well.Strength and conditioning is just a piece of the puzzle. There’s no guarantee that we’ll have the discipline and coordination that Indiana used to go undefeated. Cignetti is a very rare coach for sure.
