The Official Ole Miss @ Tennessee Series Thread (Fri. April 17 6:30PM ET) (Sat. April 18 4PM ET) (Sun 1PM ET) (All Games SECN+)

Y’all have talent without question. Are there a couple misses? Sure. That happens to every team, but the talent is still there. Now, why aren’t they producing? That’s the million dollar question. Maybe they aren’t being developed properly, or more likely just not as quickly as you’d hope for. New HC, and many playing together for the first time this season. I’m not sure who your portal players are, but if they came from a mid major, they’re seeing a completely differently level of consistent pitching than they’re use to. And sometimes, that takes more than a season to get up to speed. And most importantly, it’s damn hard to find 3 great starters, a handful of really good long relievers, and a couple closers. That’s where you really wanna see the most development as the season progresses.

I don’t know. There’s a long list of things that can go wrong. But, y’all have shown that the talent is there, and you can play with anyone when it is clicking. Just have to find a way to do it consistently.
This is the difference in a knowledgeable baseball fanbase and ours.

If my math is correct, Tennessee has won one SEC series in the last calendar year (March, 2025) and that was against an unserious Missouri program.

Also, since April 18, 2025 (one year ago today), Tennessee is 11-20 in SEC regular season games.
At least 3. At Ole Miss last year and Missouri and MSU this season. How did you forget last week???

EDIT: Last season UT won series against FL (sweep), @Alabama, @SC (sweep) and @Ole Miss
This season: Missouri and @MSU. For some reason, the BaseVols seem to play better on the road.

He must be talking about in Knoxville. I think Missouri is the only series we have won in Knoxville of our last 10 in conference. Knox has been a house of horrors. Hell, we dropped one to a mid major at home this year.

Losing one home series to a legit mid major isn’t an alarm but consistently losing home SEC series certainly is. Kent State will make a Regional. I don’t know why the past 2 teams play better on the road than at home. It’s becoming a trend.

Anyone who watches baseball would tell you Ole Miss is one of the hottest teams in the country right now. The goal was always not to get swept. Now we have our backs against the wall tomorrow, but let’s not act like we’re playing a scrub.
Goal is to win series at home and not to get swept on the road. Ole Miss is surging and the hottest team in SEC right now so today is a must win game to salvage morale and gaining some momentum.

Home series.

The lack of a standing ovation for Chapman when he came to the plate after making a spectacular catch was embarrassing. Respectfully, the majority of our fans baseball IQ is generally very low.
Unfortunately, taylorvol, I would say half of our fan BASE jumped on the Tony V bandwagon after the 2022 season. On top of that, our administration has made attending a game at LNS a social event. When our students got moved it totally changed the atmosphere at LNS. Many of our fans rarely watched baseball until 2022 and still many don’t understand the strategy in baseball or understand how baseball works and how hard it is to be successful in baseball. They are so use to ripping off 50 win seasons that’s all they know. And when we falter like this year, the coaches and team get hammered. This may not turn out to be the season we thought we were going to have, but the changing of the guard is always hard, especially following an icon like Tony V. Josh will eventually right the ship, and we will get back to playing winning baseball consistently. Like I said last week, the sec giveth and taketh away, we were riding high last week and not so much this weekend. Hope we can savage a Sunday win today. Go Vols!

Y'all feel free to comment on my "Josh needs to get tossed" thread. I'd really like to see what everyone has to say about it. GBO

If I hadn’t of believed the lie that coaches don’t make enough money I’d be coaching the Vols right now and we’d have 30 wins. Sorry guys
