Before today, Clark was also 3rd on team in BA and RBIs in SEC play. Fans calling for his benching had no clue that he was basically your #3 hitter in SEC play. Clark, Abernathy, Grimmer, Brown, and Lawless will be very good to outstanding if they are back for their junior seasons. I assume Marin leaves for MLB draft as well as Kuhns.

Of those five, who would be most at risk of going into the portal in your opinion? I could personally see folks trying to poach Grimmer from us, maybe even Abernathy

I think you know I was super critical of them bringing Reece back but thankful now we have him. I am not sure where we would be without him.

The one thing I keep thinking about is if we still had Bargo and his leadership.
Bargo has started struggling at NC State since conference play started.

AVG has dropped from .321 to .237 in a month. I know our players haven’t hit much better but I don’t think he would have been a huge difference vs what we have

Mid way through the season....ain't one of them at .300. That is tough for any team. I've given a lot of grace...knowing they're young....but this is admittedly hard to stomach.

Not the portal but grimmer could potentially go into MLB draft GA tried to poach Clark last year. Newstrom potentially hits the portal.

There is a wonderful handful of posts on the last page in the ā€œFor New/Infrequent Postersā€ thread pinned at the top of the forum. It’s a great reread. šŸ˜‰šŸ¤™šŸ¼

Grimmer was getting draft buzz last year

I think he’s gone
I caught up with a scout I’ve known a long time Saturday and we talked about some of our guys , right now he has Grimmer as a 7th rounder and Wright in the 5th , he said if Ford can get back to 100 % and his normal numbers could get in the top 50 , still a lot of season left and those projections could move up or down depending on individual performance , he likes Wright as a catcher with a 1.83 pop time , he likes Kuhns and thinks he’s getting better but didn’t give much on his draft slot , I’d say top 100 easy , he did touch on some of our guys struggling and how hard it is break bad habits against really good pitching

Fair enough....and you’re right. They're college kids, and want to win. Probably been on winning teams all their lives...not that they have a losing record (except in SEC play). I am just watching for fun...and I sure couldn't hit any better. Thanks for the reminder.

I wonder how these fans react to their MLB team when they go on a 10 plus game losing streak and their lineups go cold for a month?

The wind has been blowing in or a strong cross wind from RF to LF in many of the games Iā€˜ve attended this year limiting HRs for both teams. Today it was either calm or blowing out at times around 8-10mph. I’ve been to LNS more this year where it played like a pitcher’s park—not a hitterā€˜s park. It’s been a bizarre season for sure.
Yeah but SEC opponents, basically LSU & OM, didn’t have a problem with the wind.
