Every single year, a few people in this fanbase find a new guy to hate. It is the weirdest "fan" behavior in the world.I heard Matthews was held out today.
On a side note, is there a player this fanbase hates more than Mike Matthews even though he’s a really good player? Bizarre.
I never said anything bad about McCoy. He obviously made the right decision. Mathews on the other hand, simply isn't earning his money.Everybody demands more money. At least our guys stay. You guys need to get over how you feel about NIL and stop directing that anger at specific players. It's a REALLY bad look. The way people have been trashing Jermod McCoy is one of the ugliest things I've ever seen this fanbase do. These kids don't owe you anything. They just represent your home university.
Is that a judgement we're qualified to make as fans? Do you KNOW what he's getting paid?I am criticizing him for not earning what he is getting paid.
My qualifications are: I am a paying customer to the business he works for. He isn't delivery the results we all as fans pay for. Pretty simple. Is that a judgement we're qualified to make as fans? Do you KNOW what he's getting paid?
Some here don't even like that they get paid at all, so does that matter? Some here think all of them are overpaid, so does that matter?
What exactly are your qualifications at UT to say he's not earning what he's paid?
I hear you. But I don’t believe performance incentives are a huge part of NIL right now.My qualifications are: I am a paying customer to the business he works for. He isn't delivery the results we all as fans pay for. Pretty simple.
I have no problem with kids getting paid, but with that, I expect results.
You don't know how much he makes, nor do I, so your "he's not earning what he's paid" is hollow. My qualifications are: I am a paying customer to the business he works for. He isn't delivery the results we all as fans pay for. Pretty simple.

We all know he is getting paid well. If not, he'd be playing somewhere else right now.You don't know how much he makes, nor do I, so your "he's not earning what he's paid" is hollow.
The people who DO pay him didn't encourage him to transfer so I suspect his actual "employer" is fine with what he's doing.
BTW, he's not your employee, nor the University of Tennessee's employee, nor anyone else's employee other than his NIL responsibilities.
As old guys, we were fans before they got paid because we like UT. We paid for the entertainment and atmosphere. We all know he is getting paid well. If not, he'd be playing somewhere else right now.
Ultimately, we the fans pay for everything. TV packages, tickets, merchandise, beer, hotdogs. Without the fans, there is no money.
You're asking a lotNo it wasn’t. Diego’s was for a 1 year waiver. That’s it. Joey got the same waiver. If Diego had been given more than that, Joey would have too. Laws aren’t applied to some individuals and not others.
Please understand the legal issues before complaining that they weren’t applied fairly.
Because if a player is holding the team hostage (more so like Nico, with Matthews it didn’t reach that point) and said player hasn’t been worth the money, then we’re gonna call their bluff and say their full of ****. And with Matthews, if he’s making critical drops that change the game, then we’re gonna get more pissed, cause if they a bunch of money from our favorite school, they gotta play like it or else we should spend that money somewhere elseAs old guys, we were fans before they got paid because we like UT. Now, it seems, you're paying for performance? If you feel "that player isn't earning his money" then you feel shortchanged or something?
Were you "shortchanged" previously before players were paid or were you there to be entertained? Did the players owe you something before?
I don't get why "not earning his pay" should bother you if you're a fan of UT?
As I said, you were a fan before like me and now you've let yourself become a customer. Unlike when I was younger, I'm able now to donate to the Vol Club, but I'm not a customer, I'm still just a fan.Because if a player is holding the team hostage (more so like Nico, with Matthews it didn’t reach that point) and said player hasn’t been worth the money, then we’re gonna call their bluff and say their full of ****. He flirted with the portal because he didn't get any reps despite being better than Nimrod and the other cast of pedestrian WRs we had that year. It worked out and I'm glad it did. He'll be more talented than the past 1k WRs in Huepel's tenure. 6'1 200+, 4.4 speed and 40 inch vert. Blocks like Jauan Jennings on the perimeter and looks to truck a safety on the sideline instead of stepping out of bounds like most WRs. Mike is a stud, can't name five WRs in CFB I'd trade for him right now.He stayed cause we gave him more money, he was gonna leave
Before legally paying players. the argument was, don't boo or call out amateur kids. That all changes once the money gets flowing. As old guys, we were fans before they got paid because we like UT. We paid for the entertainment and atmosphere.

Jay Bilas was talking on collegeBefore legally paying players. the argument was, don't boo or call out amateur kids. That all changes once the money gets flowing.
Before, you might say, well he is the best we have, gotta recruit better. Now the argument, if he is not playing at a high level, we should drop him and get someone who will.
I agree with the part about people going overboard. No reason for that, but if any kid of any sport reads crap on this site, that's on them. Their parents and or mentors should be telling them as much.Jay Bilas was talking on collegegame day that college sports is no longer amateurism, with the
coming in.
But there has to be an emotionally intelligent component that says just because a kid drops a pass or misses a kick, doesn’t mean he should be ostracized because he’s paid.
Discernment is key. I’m not saying athletes should be without accountability but some people take it way too far and go on social media and in these kids DM’s to bash them unnecessarily.
And I’m not accusing anyone at VN for doing that. But athletes read message boards and social media. They see the negativesaid about them. I just wish people put themselves in these kids shoes because there’s a ton of pressure now, especially now that gambling is so rampant.

I've taken the stance that it doesn't really matter who wins the job. Both are green and facing a brutal schedule. This team will revert back to the Nico era.Need to hear what GMac did also.
Need more info on these WR drops. Where they from freshmen and walk on's or are we talking about Matthews/Stanley and if they were catchable.
If it was the upperclassmen and catchable balls, I'm not liking that
