Your manager will out manage ours by a wide margin
CJJ is taking a lot of criticism this year. I think some of it is deserved, but maybe not all of it. So far, most of his portal players haven’t panned out. He may have the experience over Coach E, but I still think home-field advantage will be big for y’all next weekend.

I read an interesting article the other day though. It was basically saying that teams that make a deep postseason run are at a disadvantage in recruiting portal players. Due to the calendar, there’s just not enough time to get everything done while you’re still playing and in the hunt for a NC. And if you look at the last 3 seasons, that at least rings partially true. LSU struggled after winning in 23. The Vols struggled a bit after winning in 24. And now LSU is struggling again after winning last year. Certainly there are other factors, like losing seniors and players getting drafted, but not being able to focus solely on recruiting hurts.

Y'all have ridiculous expectations is why he's getting criticism. If we had a coach win 2 Natties within his first 4 seasons, we'd be bowing down and worshipping the guy! 😂 😂

Fair point! But, there’s a lot of seasoned LSU fans that’s smacking those folks with serious reality checks! You’re right though!

Have not posted much this year and haven't followed a lot of the threads but our coaches really got schooled this weekend. Left side of the infield is awful and pitching decisions look suspect. Do understand we had to use a lot this weekend. Need to find ways to move runners instead of waiting for a hr

I think analytics is ok but you still have to manage the game with what your seeing unfold , Vandy has more walk off wins the last year than we have in 10 , I told my wife if E stayed with Abraham to start the 9th we’d lose , E has to take his emotion out of it and make decisions , you don’t ask pitchers that are 40 pitches above their season high in pitches if he’s ok , start the 9th with a fresh arm , Hindy’s faced two batters and gave up hits both times , how do you sit in the dugout for 8 years training for a head coaching opportunity and just make stupid decisions like that , turn that computer off and watch the freakin game

What happens first, Bates getting into the lineup or Elander coaching from the dugout instead of 3rd?
With Elander’s heavy analytical approach, I have no idea. Seems that Bates 4 for 8 in midweek hasn’t earned him any opportunities in SEC play despite playing the position that has been an offensive black hole.
I will say that E doesn’t need to be heads down charting plays like some analyst. He needs to be “heads up” taking in the game and engaging with coaches, players, and….the occasional umpire. He’s the CEO of the program and needs to delegate 3B coaching and play charting to underlings IMHO.

Come on man! That’s a rookie mistake! You know better! Seriously though, that’s just a crazy loss. If you’re in that same situation another 99 times, you’d win them all.

Next week is going to be an interesting series. LSU and the Vols have a lot of the same problems. I’m definitely giving the advantage to the Vols though. Playing at home is going to make a big difference. Wouldn’t surprise me to see a Vol sweep, but I’m hoping my boys can find a way to at least grab one.

We’ll be there Friday, so I hope you’re right. And, our seats will probably be right next to LsU family members again, since we don’t have enough prestige for better seats

I've seen enough of Stovall to last me a lifetime
Losing McCann hurt more than most will ever know. I like analytics and scouting led by someone who played or coached at a high level. Then overlapping that experience with analytics and data. The problem is there’s limited data available on college baseball players, so analytics shouldn‘t be the holy grail guiding all baseball decisions. It’s a tool not the rule.

Last time I posted in the Baseball Forum was after Tennessee was swept by Missouri to start SEC play in 2024. That was after the 2023 team (one of the best college teams ever assembled lost to ND in the Supers).

That 2024 team was 5 and 10 at the half way point in SEC play. Yes, Vitello righted the ship and finished 16 and 14 but lost to Texas A & M in the first game of the SEC tournament. Vitello was a great coach and I loved his intensity. But some are trying to rewrite history.

Yes, he won a National Champioship but he also lost the last 5 series in the SEC regular season in 2025.

One of the kindess notes I received on this forum was from Old Timer Vol after trying to calm a "win now or I'm done fan base."

Yes we have issues. Let's give Elander some time and space to fix our problems. Winning in this league is hard. Sometimes players come here because of supportive fans.
Great points but you have your years mixed up. 2022 was the year we were great but lost to ND in the Supers. 2023 was the year we got swept by Mizzou and started 5-10 but rallied to make the CWS. 2024 we won the NC and went 22-8 in the conference.

The problems in the second half of 2025 that are carrying over are of great concern. We have lost 7/8 SEC series (8/9 if you include the Arky Super) and you have to wonder about the psyche of the team getting walked off 3 games in a row and blowing a 5 run lead today.

CJE has his work cut out for him across many dimensions.
