Changing into something radically different.Nah. It’s just change. We still gonna hate Vandy.
It just struck me that my Dad co-oped with the gub’ment back in the sixties while in engineering school. Academic opportunities were widespread and i would assume plentiful still. Why not extend that toward athletes. This was triggered in another forum. Apparently, there’s a full blown NBA player, Amari Bailey, who has filed to return… wild west fer sure.Changing into something radically different.
I am in full support of NIL, revenue sharing for players but the current model is not sustainable in the long run.
And now players who have signed pro contracts may be able to return to the college ranks as per the test case of the Bama player.
What I mean that college is in the process of becoming something like a developmental pro league, where players are paid employees of a university AD and under contracts (which would create some stability in the transfer portal madness and the bidding wars).
The student-athlete concept is becoming a quaint anachronism.
And I don't think every University is going to be able compete at this level because they won't have the resources.
So "college sports" may take the form of D2 and D3 level competition with the current D1 being a more limited set of schools who can field teams of professional athletes.
I am not sure the NCAA will be able to run this brave new world. A break off organization may form with the NCAA being in charge of these lower, non-professionalized programs.
I doubt this makes anybody happy hopefully it is for more NIL money so we can get some of the top players.
Really.
With the way social media strongly voiced how talented and deep this Lady Vols roster is following the national televised game that as the game announcers stated, “ was loaded with McDonald’s All-Americans on both teams” it is clear Tennessee is a Top 15-20 team right now despite the lack of cohesion among a team featuring 5 freshmen and 3 newcomers.
As this team gains experience with the young core of 5-star and 4-star players, they are poised to reach their ceiling which is a Top 10 team. As one social media handler who has no affiliation with Tennessee stated, this is a Top 5 roster.
GBO.
Problem at this point is going to be retaining the young players. We really need them to stay to have a foundation.I will say something controversial since were looking for solutions and not finding any. I think we may need to get rid of the seniors on this team they may not be team players and may be causing more problems than the ones that are being solved. I saw very little hustle from them on a lot of plays throughout the season. I have seen a lot more intensity out of the freshmen and we don't seem to be able to win unless they doing at least half the scoring. We needed these seniors to be leaders and I don't think any of them are. So I will be glad to move on from them and it is the coaches job to replace them with the right type players that buy in much better than I am seeing out of this upperclassmen group. If these seniors can't play better and help us a lot more were going to end this season badly.
