2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

What was the stat last year? Over half of them didn’t find a new home? Meaning they essentially were no longer going to school on athletic scholarship. Maybe players stop taking that for granted, at least all those who aren’t premier Power 4 starters. That would be a silver lining. Free education is still worth something.
AI Overview

Last year (referring to the 2024-2025 cycle), thousands of Division I (D1) athletes entered the transfer portal, with
over 3,700 FBS football players entering in the first few days of the 2025 window, while over 740 D1 men's basketball players entered by March 2025, showing massive participation across major sports, with numbers growing year-over-year.

========================

an upward trend last year to this year...expect 5000 to 6000 next year my guess

Probably go online. College is crazy now. My 3rd son at UT can’t even get in the required basic freshman classes because there are too many students and they say “go online.”
Thats absurd
He didn’t work for his scholarships and we didn’t pay for dorm and tuition for him to sit in his dorm in front of a computer.
Everyone should hear you say that from the mountain top and everywhere in between until the message is received. Or don’t give them your money anymore.

It sucks and going to get worse. Fight for a spot among 7k taken with 60k applicants then can’t get in an English class first day of registering in his afternoon timeframe because they are full.
Probably spend $ on summer class at Columbia St CC for the requirement.

Use that money that Leavitt is demanding and use it on Joey.

At least we know what we have with Joey at the QB position.

We don’t know if Leavitt will be the same player coming off his serious foot injury.
I’m all for keeping Joey should he win the appeal. He’s a known commodity, the team seems to love him, he’ll now have a full year in the system, he’s a proven SEC quarterback with a solid head on his shoulders, and he’ll only have 1-year left. Just feels like a win-win.

Exactly, but TN is too cheap to pay anywhere close for top tier QB
Tennessee was the first to pay top dollar to a QB recruit with Nico. We have a ton of money tied up in the QB room with Faizon and George. We’d be stupid to pay $4m-$5m for a QB.
