But in all fairness I did win a Super Bowl on Madden with the lowest salary cap in the league, so I am a bit of an expert.

They have money. No way anyone can tell me any different. We have big boosters just like any other school. The athletic department has been bringing in 135-150 million a year from just football. No way they dont have the money to spend. They could spend 50 million a year and still be okay.

But you are talking money the athletic department brings in. Technically we aren’t allowed to pay athletes from that, aside from the $20m or so per year settlement money. Anything beyond that is technically supposed to be NiL. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

I suspect it would be difficult for the school to “hide” that much money if they started paying SAs out of the athletic dept budget.

Now we could push more of the settlement money to football and take away from other sports, but that’s a different discussion.

Beyond that, it’s a matter of how badly your big boosters want to win and how much they are willing to pay out of their pockets.

I realize you already know all this. Imo it isn’t a matter of what the school can do, it’s a matter of what the boosters WILL do.

Watching Autozone Liberty Bowl and it showed a little deal about the revised transfer portal and the last thing on there was that if you enter the portal and don’t get picked up you can go back to your original team.
How does that work if your spot got taken or was that out of context. Seems like a pretty big deal if that’s true.

Not sure if the rule changed but it used to be if you enter the portal the school you played for doesn’t have to hold your scholarship

Ty Simpson would be a homerun and probably the best case scenario for a one year guy. He would probably be the top QB in the portal over Leavitt, Sorsby, etc. A full year of SEC experience under his belt. That's the guy you pony up for if he wants to come.

I am beginning to agree with this. Simpson is much better than Leavitt.

Even though Aguilar has done a terrific job, next season it should be the young guns turn to shine. GM will be stronger and ready to go and if Brandon is ready to play as some of you say ... Then the QB room is good to go...

Not only this but his OL was ass. He would thrive here. Bama fans I know believe he’s a very good QB and don’t put any of their offensive struggles this season on him.

Told Vols looking at multiple DL, here are a few they are working on, 1st three have visits scheduled.

Xavier Gilliam
Darrin Conley
De'Marion Thomas

Told list is fluid as Knowles & Garner along with Billy High are having actively running through portal DL board, working contacts, and figuring out who will be priority.

Coaches think Glliam will be a Vol. Knowles & Jackson feel he has real upside & can make a leap if he can really commit in S&C in off season. Other guys will come down to fit & NIL evalation

One note on Gilliam is it appears he is moving up on alot of people's boards, which means money could come into play. Currently has visits set to ND, Indiana, & UT.

Thomas was at Vandy..got hurt at okie state. But he's a big lower body kid that is exactly what Knowles wants. Gilliam is similar but not as robust.

Get both if you can! And not for no 1 million each... Ridiculous.
