Stranger Things

There was a lot of talking and not much action... I have been honestly disappointed with the writing, but maybe the finale will be impressive.

I got Deathly Hallows Part One vibes.

I have to believe that the finale is going to be nonstop action like Deathly Hallows Part 2 or Revenge of the Sith.

I saw a recent interview where the Duffers kept getting asked about character deaths and they responded with “this isn’t game of thrones” so I don’t expect much to be honest. It’s serviceable so far, but it is a huge let down to have been kept waiting for this many years. It’s missing alot of personality this season and alot of the scenes feel forced.

The most forced scene was that one group scene in the last episode of Vol 2. I won’t name it.

I think the only scene that feels natural is the Dustin and Steve scene. You can tell a few of the actors have had enough of the show. And 8 seems forced in the show. Really would be a better show without her character.

Call me dumb, but

I didn't really pick up that Johnathan and Nancy were actually breaking up...I took it as "well we're about to die, so let's be honest and get it all off our chests." No reason to get engaged as they wouldn't live to see a wedding...

So I was surprised to read that today. I must not have been alone, as the writers offered a clarification.

Agree with all of the above. Nancy/Johnathan was hard to watch. A slog of a scene. I was waiting on the cliche gate closed too early scene when Holly and Max were chatting forever instead of showing urgency. The only characters that were enjoyable were Dustin and Steve. 8 could’ve never shown her face outside the episode in season two and I’d be fine with it. They took characters like Murray and put them on the back burner too much after establishing a very likable character that was genuinely funny.

Funny, we were laughing and morbidly hoping they would both just perish for being dumb and sitting there talking.

These 3 episodes tied up a lot of dangling threads. Yeah some of the scenes dragged but they were also kinda necessary.

I was talking to the screen during the Max and Holly scene. Especially when they went their separate ways and walked to the portals.

With the first four I was good with it. These three were lacking and well, not that good. For many reasons. Nothing has topped 4 or ever will IMO.

I'm probably in the minority and I'm not the intended audience but this final season has been a chore to me. The first 4 episodes were ok but the last 3 I struggled to pay attention and stay awake. I am going to watch the finale but I really don't have my hopes up.

Part of it may be just the long delay in seasons made me kind of stop caring and I'm not remembering how the show has been, but something about this last season just doesn't hit with me. The writing and the way it's directed, I don't know...just doesn't seem as good as it once was. I know it's always had a bit of a cheese factor but this season has felt extra cheesy to me.

My wife and I started rewatching from the beginning and I think a huge part of the appeal in S1 was the creative choices they had to make due to budget limitations. It made for a more authentic show.

This season’s budget is so bloated it feels more like an overstuffed blockbuster than a creepy 80s inspired TV series.

That said I’ve still enjoyed it and look forward to the finale.

I'm here. If they had made this a lean and mean 5 episode season instead of 8 I believe I'd have stayed more engaged.

Having said that like you I'm rather looking forward to the finale.

I'll admit, I was expecting to see a couple of characters get sacrificed. Heck, even Mrs Wheeler survived what appeared to be a lethal Demo attack.

Did anyone see the broadway show about Henry as a child and explains maybe what was in the case? Also something about Brenners dad going to dimension X
