Seems like the ACC should’ve just had the tiebreaker for the conference title game be CFP ranking to improve their chances

Unfortunately several large organizations in the world have people in charge that are not necessarily fit to make forward thinking decisions. Group of 5 conferences already made that switch.

I have seen a lot of support for something similar to this format below. We will probably championship games turn into a “Championship Weekend” with mini-playoffs for these conferences. For instance in the SEC:

1 plays 2 and both teams are in CFP (playing for seeding)
3 plays 6 for a play-in spot in CFP (loser out)
4 plays 5 for a play-in spot in CFP (loser out)

It would make the regular season remain relevant and expand the pool of teams in play for the CFP. But the big problem I see is you would create a situation where teams won in the regular season but could lose a rematch and be out. For instance, this year I think we would have seen rematches between:

1 Alabama vs 2 Georgia
3 Ole Miss vs 6 Oklahoma
4 Texas A&M vs 5 Texas

Miami and Texas were ranked ahead of Vanderbilt coming into the weekend so there is zero chance of that happening. The Heisman…that’s a different conversation. I think they will give it to Mendoza and Pavia will probably be runner-up. That’s just my opinion though…

I know this may piss you off but Jeremiah Love the RB from Notre Dame could possibly win the Heisman

I think he will get some votes but I don’t see him winning. Might finish 3rd or 4th. Man, if Dylan Sampson got to have his stats from last put in for this year, he would have had a shot. One of the weakest Heisman years that I can recall.

LB – Aiden Fisher (Class of 2022 0-star, not ranked). Fisher narrowed his options down to JMU and Old Dominion.

LB – Rolijah Hardy (Class of 2024 0-star, not ranked). The Florida product spent a year at Navy Prep before being discovered by the IU staff.

S – Amare Ferrell (Class of 2023 3-star, No. 578 overall, No. 53 safety). Ferrell was a solid win for then head coach Tom Allen. He had several Power 4 offers.

S – Louis Moore (Class of 2019 0-star, not ranked). Moore did not have offers out of high school and went the junior college route.

S – Devan Boykin (Class of 2020 3-star, No. 833 overall, No. 66 CB). Boykin committed to N.C. State out of high school. His other offers appear to have been non-Power 4.

Then everyone will argue over who makes the play in games. After all, play in games are really just an expansion of the playoff. Doesn’t matter what you do, people will still whine and argue.

Until they go to a NFL model it will always be that way. But I know I would rather my team have a fighting chance to get in than to leave it up to a committee. At least if we lost in a play-in we could say we had our chance. I will add, if you don’t finish within the top 6 of your conference then you really shouldn’t even sniff the conversation anyways…
