OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

Yep. Can’t stand that 💩! 17 years old, we throw a bunch of money at him, and he’s supposed to behave and react as a professional athlete.
🤐🤦‍♂️
If not for the one and done rule he would have been drafted this year. So he is a professional athlete. I remember the Suns firing their coach 3 games into a season. 💩 gets real in the league so if he can’t endure a college fanbase then he isn’t cut out for the NBA anyways.

For the Star gazers during recruiting. Indiana has the #2 defense in America and here are their key contributors.. check out offers and star ratings.

DE – Mikail Kamara (Class of 2020 0-star, not ranked). Thought to be an undersized defensive lineman, Kamara had no Power 4 offers.

DT – Tyrique Tucker (Class of 2022 0-star, not ranked). Tucker joined has older brother at JMU. His other offers appeared to be FCS schools.

DT – Hosea Wheeler (Class of 2022 0-star, not ranked). Wheeler went to junior college out of high school.

DE – Kellan Wyatt (Class of 2022 3-star, No. 1,033 overall, No. 99 LB). Wyatt chose Maryland out of high school over Syracuse and Buffalo.

LB – Aiden Fisher (Class of 2022 0-star, not ranked). Fisher narrowed his options down to JMU and Old Dominion.

LB – Rolijah Hardy (Class of 2024 0-star, not ranked). The Florida product spent a year at Navy Prep before being discovered by the IU staff.

S – Amare Ferrell (Class of 2023 3-star, No. 578 overall, No. 53 safety). Ferrell was a solid win for then head coach Tom Allen. He had several Power 4 offers.

S – Louis Moore (Class of 2019 0-star, not ranked). Moore did not have offers out of high school and went the junior college route.

S – Devan Boykin (Class of 2020 3-star, No. 833 overall, No. 66 CB). Boykin committed to N.C. State out of high school. His other offers appear to have been non-Power 4.

I guess we need to fire Heupel?

Tim Banks?

CJH needs to cut the cord with Tim Banks..
If it happens, and I have my doubts that it does, I wonder if Heupel makes the move before or after the portal closes? One would think before so as to allow the new DC an opportunity to bring in guys he wants to work with? Plus, I'm not sure there are too many players we'd sweat losing from this defense anyway. Gonna be interesting.

A strong testimony to the Indiana coaching staffs ability to evaluate and develop players. I anxiously await the report on UTs remarkable work in these areas.

Tim Banks?

CJH is fine ...staff just needs to learn how to coach these 4 and 5* players up.

Doubt he will pull the trigger. Heupel was fired before and doesn’t want to put one of his guys in that position. It will have to be Banks making a move somewhere else imo.

True but they went very heavy in the transfer portal which obviously enables a quick turnaround if used effectively.

Best guess at what the CFP rankings will be after today’s results:

1 Indiana
2 Georgia
3 Ohio State
4 Texas Tech

5 Oregon
6 Ole Miss
7 Texas A&M
8 Oklahoma
9 Notre Dame
10 Alabama
11 Tulane
12 James Madison

First Teams Out:

Miami
Texas
Vanderbilt
BYU
Honestly, I would enjoy watching Vandy and Pavia in the CFP much more than Tulane. No offense to my baseball buddy alum. Of course Pavia was more interested in winning the Heisman than playing in the playoffs…

Ole Miss-Tulane would be a rematch of a game that the rebels won 45-10

If they actually went with the 12 highest ranked teams Vanderbilt might get in. The auto bids screw everything up. Tulane and James Madison are going to have to go on the road to play Ole Miss and Oregon, respectively. Yeah, good luck with that 😂

Yeah there’s no way around that one at this point. They aren’t shifting Oregon and Ole Miss since they were idle, and Tulane was already multiple spots ahead of James Madison. I was saying they wouldn’t want to have 3 rematches from the regular season. 1 is already bad enough.

The stars of the defense was the ZERO stars out of high school that followed Cignetti from JMU...

The QB from Indiana that probably wins Heisman Trophy was also a Zero star recruit out of highschool and the stud WR Sarratt was a Zero star out of high school.. just proving a point that stars beside the players name doesn't mean much when it comes to the person inside..

Do stars matter? To a certain point but we've had a 5* QB and a 4* star safety that didn't accomplish **** the last couple of years and left for more money...

Media has always brainwashed the public into thinking “Jimmys and Joes” make the difference. Coaching is still the deciding factor. That’s why Kirby wiped the floor with DeBoer. Similarly talented teams. If your name isn’t Nick Saban then you are cooked in a rematch during the same season.
