Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Tough sell isn't that? I mean, aren't most kids portaling for more playing time? Hard to convince a kid to leave one school to come to us and be the 103 player on the roster.

Seems it would be a lot easier to convince a low rated three star kid to come to Tennessee and try to develop in an SEC program for a year or two and see what happens.
I think with revenue sharing it will cause programs to find players that can contribute earlier.

I read somewhere that the portal would make high school recruiting less significant. The logic was to let other programs pay to develop them and then grab the ones you want. Obviously, its going to be some kind of balance between high school and and portal players. If you have the 85 made up of players recruited out of high school and the remainder portal players. Some of those will be one year players, some two years.

PWOs seldom contribute meaningful snaps. I just think they'll want to get the most out of their $$.

Immediately returning to the school that just fired you 10 weeks ago has to be incredibly awkward.
Depends on if you think you were fired wrongfully or if you knew it was time. Was Pry's first HC gig and it never got off the ground. He loved Blacksburg though and the fanbase and players love him as a person (he's a genuinely good dude). Just wasn't a HC. It could work.

NYC is legit.

I could never live here. I would kill someone.

But the buildings, food, drinks, shows, etc. are top notch. My fam has had a blast. My girls want to come back in February on break lol. Rockettes blew my mind

If anyone needs recommendations or a place to stay, let me know.
Completely agree. Fun city.

Cfp idea that’s most logical:

-16 team playoff
-Every conf champion gets a spot (9 total)
-top 4 teams get double bye, teams ranked 5-8 get single week bye
-round 1 starts week after conf championship week for teams ranked 8-16 (on campus)
-winners play teams ranked 5-8 (also on campus)
-winners of those games play the top 4 in quarter finals
You lost me at conference champs. They aren’t all equal and don’t all deserve a spot.

Option 1
Go to 16 Teams
No Conference Championships/Round 1 played that weekend
Top 4 from SEC/Top 4 from Big 10/Top 2 from ACC and Big 12/Top 2 G4 Conference Champions/2 At-Large
Notre Dame has to join a conference to be playoff eligible.
All teams play minimum of 10 Power 4 Games

Option 2
12 Teams
Same as above but no G4 or At-Large
No Conference Championships/ND in a Conference/10 P4 Games
Separate Playoff for G4

Option 3
Whatever the He$$ ESPN wants and keep it screwed up.
I like option 2, but just use the BCS computer to pick the 12, like AAC did to set their Conf Championship game.

If we go to 16, people will say we need to go to 18, 20, or 24. It will never end. The regular season games mean a lot less than they ever have. Back in the day, one loss could very well mean you were eliminated from the chance of winning a national title. Now we have regular season 2 loss teams getting in.

Little tidbit about Alabama whining about maybe being left out because they lost in SEC Championship game..

In 2017, Auburn defeated Alabama and was #2 in CFP going into the SEC Championship game vs Georgia. Meanwhile Alabama sat in #5 spot while sitting at home. Georgia defeated Auburn and Auburn got punished and dropped 5:spots and Alabama claimed the 4th spot.. in the end STFU Alabama if you get left out you deserve it..

But Alabama gonna get favorable treatment because they’re Alabama
