Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

JMO, but Ohio State should drop to 4. Indiana at 1, Georgia at 2, and Texas Tech at 3. Georgia and Texas Tech won their last games, Ohio State did not.

4-8 should be Oregon, Ole Miss, TAMU, and Oklahoma in some order.

9-12 should be Notre Dame, Miami, Tulane, and James Madison.

At 3 losses, Bama should justifiably be out. They have a bad loss to FSU and were blown out in the CG. If they get in, it's politics, not earned. The only teams that have a real argument over Miami are Vandy and possibly Utah, also both with just 2 losses. Again, this is all jmo, but 3 losses should put you out.

And, FTR, I think automatic qualifiers are stupid. Tulane and James Madison are only in because of it. They shouldn't be.

I also think the ACC should fix their conference. Stop with divisions and just have the two best teams play for the conference championship. It should have been Miami and UVA. Duke winning was fun, but they didn't deserve the spot to begin with IMO.

There are a lot of simple things that could be done to help fix the whole playoff mess, but politics prevent that from happening. Politics, IMO, are hurting the game.
If Miami isn’t in, then the ACC divisions cost them a CFP Spot

Nobody even wants to take banks from us lol
we’re stuck with him
****!!!!!!!!!!!
Guess his 3rd and 4th down play calling isn’t as impressive to others coaches that know football as it is to the recliner and couch coaches who want to keep him….
3rd and 20 play calling ain’t much better

Yea something needs to be done. James Madison and Tulane are not 2 of the best 12 teams in the country. If you want to reward them, have them schedule better out of conference competition, win those games, and be ranked high enough to get an at-large bid.

I think Bama gets in, shouldn't, but you can make an argument for it.

Ultimately, they will expand to 16 teams which should satisfy most people.
Never satisfy me until we do away with AQ. Got to top ## and not top ## by W-L beauty pageant and pansy conference records…. And if you ain’t in a conference then you are not eligible

Bam
They were penalized after the conference championship game bc the backup QB looked like ****. So the conference championship impacted their playoff selection despite winning and the “paid shills” argued for that to occur. Now they’re saying don’t penalize Bama for losing today even though they also looked very bad and lost. If FSU can win their conference championship and have their playoff resume impacted negatively, then surely Alabama can have theirs negatively impacted in a loss. The precedent has already been set. (Looking at your McElroy)

Bama’s starter has looked like crap since the Missouri game. They shouldn’t make it

Spot on take. Bama should be out. There‘s zero argument for them at 3 losses, as you mentioned. Plus, Miami has the head to head against ND, Bam doesn’t have a head to head against any current playoff team since their win against UGA was negated by the SECCG.

But Bama will get in and then we have to hear more about how amazing KD’s hoodie Is. The bias truly is disgusting.

I'm a Tennessee fan and I think they should be left out. Not seeing the comedy. They're dirty rotten inbred cheaters. They deserve nothing. I hope they get left out so I can see their fans gnash and wail. It will make me, as a Tennessee fan, extremely happy.
First legitimate reason I’ve heard. Pure hatred of the gumps. Much respect. Now back to the mental gymnastics by those trying to convince us it’s something else. I personally hope they leave them out also. I hate the whole state of Alabama.

Posting this again. Gruden has the solution to this mess, IMO.

football minds making football decisions. who would have thought?

love the idea, also love computer rankings. you have to put SOC back in. make these play in games over 1 weekend, and make them those existing bowl games. how hard is this?!

Let me fix college football. There is zero doubt the two strongest conferences are SEC and BIG. The problem is the amount of members.

SEC and BIG get 4 automatic
12 and ACC get 2 each

If power shifts due to investment, the auto slots per conference can be adjusted up or down using computer analysis and not human bias.

All conferences divide teams back to east/west or north/south. I don’t care. Whatever keeps long time rivalries. Each must play every team on their side. Top two from each side get in for SEC and BIG. Top team from each side in 12 and ACC get in.

Championship game determines first round bye in college football playoff.

Remaining 4 spots determined by old BCS computer system. REMOVE PEOPLE ENTIRELY TO GET RID OF CORRUPTION.

I’ll apply for commissioner when spot opens.

The O-line holding of both OSU/IU last night was awful. Pathetic officiating even if I liked the result.

The point of the playoffs as is and as planned in the future is to generate fan interest as it has. Like March Madness, just less teams because of the nature of the sport. I have no problem with a G5 or two in a 16 team playoff as long as they play at least a couple of P4's and beat them in their schedules.

I have a real problem with ND playing crap schedules and not being in a P4 conference. That shiz needs to stop. Just end the favoritism and everything will be fine.

I see nobody better than UGA. They match up physically with IU and OSU the best. Their 12 and 13 personnel packages on O are difficult to stop. Their D is physical and gets better every game.

TTU reminds me of TCU a few years back. I don't think they have the line physicality and QB play of the other three, but they are fun to watch.

Has Tim Banks and other crap assistants been let go yet? If folks do not see the difference in the teams that are at the top and ours by now, they never will. We have top ten talent on the roster with a top ten offense and a bottom feeder defense. Fix it.

UGA needed OT to beat us , beat UF by 4 ,
Needed to team up with the refs to beat Auburn, beat GA tech by 7.

Point: cherry picking

The above doesn’t make UGA look so great
And I’d be confident that IU could do better against each of those teams.

But UGA is probably a top 5 team.
So is Indiana. Not likely losing 2-3 sec games.
You could be correct. I watched the Big Ten every week and the conference looked extremely weak. I wasn't impressed at all.
