Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Here’s to hoping that today we build on all of the momentum from our signing class yesterday, and have some major staff shake ups to coach these young men!

Going on record that our next DC is Knowles. No inside info…just a hunch based on him not already announced to be following Franklin. And there’s no way he’s staying at PSU with how much of a debacle it is up there.

Idk man. with how Penn State has gone, Knowles might be in a good spot to stick around. At this point, they are so behind the curve that continuity with as much of the staff as possible is better.

Fully prepared for Terry Smith to get the head coaching gig.

Here is our per recruit average by year for the last 20 years:
2006- 86.35
2007- 89.67
2008- 86.54
2009- 90.66
2010- 88.45
2011- 88.44
2012- 88.47
2013- 85.86
2014- 89.50
2015- 89.48
2016- 89.12
2017- 87.24
2018- 87.57
2019- 90.67
2020- 90.15
2021- 88.89
2022- 88.10
2023- 90.82
2024- 91.16
2025- 91.32
2026- 91.51
So are we supposed to “remember where we were “ for a few more years and be happy with 8 or 9 wins or can we start expecting to be a top 10 team.

He use to be the master at getting a few elite players and almost everyone else becoming a solid player no matter the ranking. Those days seem to be long gone though. When he first started growing Clemson, He didn’t have top ten classes but when we reranked they would be top 5.
He also took advantage of Tennessee wondering in the wilderness for 15 years.

Saw a stat that says Stanford turned the ball over 30 times today...... And we won by two.......... Tells me we are terribly inefficient. Coach has her work cut out for her, great athletes, just not great ball players yet.

Very young team and almost all new faces. With Ruby kicked off the team I think we only had 2 or 3 returners from last year. They're going to take more time than Barnes' team to mesh I think.

Also Stanford defense is pretty elite itself.

We finished as a top 10 team 2 out of the last 4 years. Down years happen. Let’s think about things logically. Thanks

I’m thinking Penn State has someone that’s still coaching this season locked up. Surely they can’t be first one to fire and last to hire?

Maybe DeBoer wants out of bama? That would be awesome. Gumps dumped!

LadyVols are very young and we’re early in the season. Had to expect some lumps early on but future looks bright..

Gonna be hilarious if its Deboer. The longer it goes it makes you wonder.

That seems to be a bit subjective. We were a top 10 team last year. And we were top 10 in 2022. Since 2022, we've consistently been ranked inside the top 25. I would say there are only about 7-8 schools that have been more successful than us since the start of 2022. So in that sense, I would absolutely say we're a top 10 program right now.

As far as consistently being ranked inside the top 10, I would say that is going to be hard for just about any SEC team. And going forward as we move to 9 SEC games, finishing as a Top 10 ranked team on a yearly basis is going to be a massive undertaking. Not even the last 2 seasons has Alabama been able to maintain that, and they have a massive recruiting advantage over every team in the league other than UGA. UGA is the only team that has been ranked inside the top 10 every week the last 2 seasons.

So if you're asking us to be another UGA, that's probably not super realistic. But I think we are at the point where we should expect to compete for a title every year, and 8-4 should be the absolute floor of any season (without significant injuires).

idk how he treats people but players love the guy
Some do, others that are victimized by those players don't agree.

From what I can gather he has a trait of being super alpha, mysogonistic, ignoring wrong doing by players because they are stars etc.
