Tennessee vs UCLA Sunday November 30th Game Thread

At this point it’s getting real! This freshmen parent has got it started on social media now it’s time to see how Coach Caldwell deals with it. Rocky Top is rocking just not on the court!
He was joking too. Reliable source lol, in touch with coaching staff. He probably shouldn't have posted to them, but they are always saying things to tick people off. We have point guards we just need to decide who it is and let them play there.

World Exposure this same poster was saying how Edwards would never be as good a player as Booker of Texas. That may turn out to be true, but just looking at it looks like Edwards will be far better than Booker by the end of her career. It was a bad comparison just what they do everyday. They go for clicks by making controversial statements.

I might be bias in this case but I don’t think he’s joking in a sense. You can bet this guy has been on the phone with folks and will jump at any NIL deal a program makes to get back in the spotlight. As I stated before both players have had their opportunities and started games, now I agree the system has been an issue. Complaining about the system is valid. But before this post today he has clearly bashed the system and the coaching staff multiple times publicly.

Only time will tell either way were going forward. We have all bashed the system and the coaches do need some blame. You were bashing them yesterday as I recall for what they are doing.

There is no way you can bash the system without bashing the coaches cause the system is theirs and they are the cause of what is happening because of it.

No doubt about it. Nobody is bigger than the program. Coach or player.
The Tennessee brand is elite. Kudos to Coach Lazo for proving that elite talent can once again be recruited to the top WBB program of all-time.
In the end, that guy deserves a lot of credit regardless of how it turns out in the next 1-2 years.
I knew adversity would come. Rocky Top is built for it.
GBO🍊.
Only time will tell either way we’re going forward.

I hope you know he was joking with them. Reliable source should've given it away.
Regardless if he was joking or not, he shouldn't have said that publicly. It can create rumors and sow discontent amongst the locker room. Some people will take it as a joke and others will view it seriously, we don't need ambiguous comments like that, especially in the space of X (Twitter). We're already reeling from our non existent defense and chaotic offense on the court, cant have any more off court distractions this season.

I don’t have kids playing for the University of Tennessee so comparing what I post… what you post.. to what a parent is saying is apples to oranges.
When I watched my own play sports and win championships you can bet I did it the right way and never once posted anything controversial online. I don’t even post about my job online. Even when I had good reason to, I kept it 💯 . That’s how I handle business.
And I would advise this gentleman that sometimes its best to say less.
It’s about character at the end of the day. In some positions, we have to hold ourselves to a higher standard and not share our grievances to the public.
GBO politics 101🍊

Your right needs to keep it real. I have to admit though World Exposure womens basketball knows how to get on your nerves. I've argued with them more than once knowing it serves no purpose.

If I were a player I’d hate that my parent was all the time posting 💩 stirring up stuff. Seems like odd entitled behavior.

Bad for the kids. Let them face adversity, fight through, and earn their role. It's not about what they are, but what they can become.

I had a son who played a college sport. It's very hard when you think what they bring to the team and can do aren't being appreciated. But I kept my mouth shut (he would have been big mad if I hadn't!), and he worked, earned his spot, proved to himself what he could do, and left ready to move forward into a successful adult life. Let 'em grow!

Sorry but I don’t blame a parent at all like what do we practice because it don’t seem like we do just roll the ball out and play open gym ball…as a parent yes I would be pissed and wondering WTH is going on as a fan it’s hard to watch I can only imagine the film room with other coaches when they watch us play it’s embarrassing and the most embarrassing nobody on that staff knows how to make adjustments or have the balls to tell Kim to adjust…but winning cures all so we beat Stanford and Louisville all is well
Yea but u gotta do your research..

All makes perfect sense, but if I were speaking for CKC, I would question whether it might be a little too soon to adjust the system. Pretty sure she thinks she can adjust the players instead of the system and she has told us that takes more time.

I don’t agree with that bc I’ve never thought you could mold enough players often enough to make the rigorous and frankly whack a doodle system win D1 championships. But I’m not in charge.
She needs longer shifts than 2mins more like 3 to 5 mins.
Development of centring players playing together.
Certain players need mins in competitive games.
She needs to switch to soft press to shorting other team shot clock when opponent guards are creating easy scoring opportunities.
She needs to tell certain players who miss two or three three's pointers not take five plus until they start converting a better percentage of Three pointers.

Is Jenna Burdette actually doing the in game Coaching? Watching only on tv, it has looked that way.
Yes, Jenna more than half the time had the clipboard and was the talker in the huddles. Now the coaches would huddle first then come to the players. I was right behind the bench. Coach Kim stood in the huddles several times while Jenna was the one talking. Coach Kim also didn’t make the sub calling. The assistant coaches, usually Ronan and Gabe called for the subs to go in. Also, in the fourth, there wasn’t that much subbing which was different. Like it wasn’t the five in five out.

Has anyone thought about Sara and Tess might be missed in a leadership role. Teams need senior leaders, may never happen again having a couple seniors who stayed four years.
You missed the UCLA game, eh? Outta go back and watch it…

I didn't get to watch, and I know y'all have probably dissected this a million different ways already, but what in the world happened? Save for the ugly stretch attributed to exhaustion at the end of last season, we just never saw Kim's team get so thoroughly blown out, even when we played UConn, Texas, South Carolina, LSU, etc. Do young players just have some growing up to do? Team need to gel more?

I'm genuinely surprised and (of course) very disappointed in the result. Kim has talked about how her teams struggle in the early going then find their identity as the season goes on, so are we going to deal with clunkers in the opening stretch of every season?

I dunno. I just don't think we should be getting blown out by the top tier like this with the amount of talent we've got on the roster. I can't decide what to think.

Yes, we have a leadership vacuum at the moment. Ruby was supposed to be our veteran leader and the heart and soul of the team but she had other plans for her career.

It’s tough but it’s where we are. The freshmen are going to have to grow up fast.
