yeah, it became obvious a few years ago they were making arbitrary decisions. If that wasn't the point of the committee in the first place, they would have kept using a computer to figure out the rankings.Do you believe anything they say? They literally make up their own criteria every year it seems.
If a team is sitting at #9 or 10 and lose conference championship, I could see them getting left out .. especially this season...Not related to Bama but brings up another discussion - do you think teams that are”in” but then lose conference championship games should be left out due to that L?
Thoughts from everyone?
Really? You think Oregon and USC are sure wins every year and of the 3 teams that might be able to get in the way you list Indiana, who for the last hundred years were an automatic win . Indiana proves any team is 1 HC hire away from being a playoff contender virtually overnight. If I was him, I’d be pushing hard for that job. They pay well, he restarts his clock, and he would be in a league with only three other programs (OSU, Michigan, IU) that realistically should be able to stand in the way of a yearly playoff birth. Much easier setup than what we’re facing, especially with next year’s schedule being a gauntlet.
Would put us in a tough spot. Not a good time to be hiring a coach after how the carousel has gone.
No, but this brings up the point that conference championship games are completely meaningless. If there’s no consequence for losing, what’s even the point? Not related to Bama but brings up another discussion - do you think teams that are”in” but then lose conference championship games should be left out due to that L?

Dude, Heupel was the UCf guy.And Heupel has turned around this program. You can see that there is no better coaches out there-- People fighting over Tulane coach. Maybe we could get the Kennesaw State guy?

You got me. I'm a closet Vanderbilt fan and I'm really good at acting. I'm an excellent thespian. I'm in here yesterday talking about Candace and Bruce making me emotional talking about Pat and how fresh that loss still is. Totally rooting for Pavia all over this board too. I haven't even sunk to insulting his height. That's how much respect I have for the guy. Heck I hope he plays another year. I figure his two idiot brothers will need bail money again at some point. Anchor Down.
Well I think we all know who replaced you.I used to think it was my personal responsibility to correct everyone who is ever wrong on the internet.
Thank the Lord I dissuaded myself of that. Once you realize no one else's wrong-thinking is at all your responsibility to correct, you can just let people be as wrong as they want as often as they want. It's freeing.
This is not a response to anything specific on this board or anywhere else. Just something that's helped me that I thought might help someone else.
Was at the game. It was pretty loud. A lot of seats open in the upper deck and behind the UT bench. Maybe drop prices a little. Fill it up. However its not up to the fans to cheer constantly while we are getting pounded by vandy. Dropped 2 racks on food, drinks, parking and tickets.I think we need to forgive our fans for crowd noise. Defensive performance is a big part of sustained and enthusiastic crowd noise. We certainly subdued our fans this year.
I’m sorry, what’s your point here? I don’t want Bama in. I could care less if Bama not being in meant there would be 0 SEC teams. If Alabama is sitting at #10 and BYU at #11. Alabama better win the SEC Championship game be cause if BYU beats Texas Tech in Big 12 Championship game then 2 Big 12 teams make CFP and Alabama drops out.. also Notre Dame isn't safe either with the other two automatic Conference champions could be Tulane and James Madison.
three dumbass misdemeanors in tennessee and you're ****edI don't do I told you so's. This isn't that. It's just let's laugh at how predictable this was.
